Klinger Rocks!

Dear Parents and/or Guardians:

Parent conferences will be held on Tuesday, November 22, 2022 (6:00-8:00 P.M.) and Wednesday, November 23, 2022 (8:00 A.M.-12:00 P.M.) in-person at Klinger. We encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to discuss your child’s progress with a teacher, and we look forward to seeing many of you at Klinger.

If you choose to schedule a conference at this time, please select a time slot with your child’s teacher through the “Family Access” portal on Skyward. Instructions on how to schedule a conference time can be found here: Skyward App Directions or Web Browser Directions.

Please note that the conference schedule provides a limited number of time slots for teachers to meet with parents and guardians, and we appreciate your understanding. Please know that you can arrange conferences with teachers anytime throughout the school year. Conferences may be scheduled by contacting your child’s teacher or guidance counselor at (215) 364-5950, extension 13040.

Kindly,

Martin Hayes and James Ford

Attendance

Please remember to email: klattendance@centennialsd.org with any attendance questions or requests. This includes absences for any reason, early dismissals, and vacation requests. The only way to excuse your child’s absences is to email klattendance@centennialsd.org.

Meetings, Visitors, Dropping off items

We are doing as much virtually as we possibly can and significantly limiting people entering our building in order to provide a safe and healthy environment for everyone. All meetings will continue to take place virtually. Visitors will not be allowed in the building. Please also limit dropping off items for students during the day. Thank you for your cooperation.

As you have heard, flu is running around and wreaking havoc in our region.

If your child is having any fever or vomiting, they should stay home until symptom free for 24 hours.

The Klinger Nurse’s office does not keep cold and cough medicine in stock. If your child requires over the counter medicine, we advise they take it prior to the school day.

The best way to prevent any type of spread of germs is hand washing. Stress the importance of hygiene to keep ourselves healthy and able to learn!

If your child has tested positive for Covid-19, please note the start date of symptoms. Positive students should remain home for 5 days from symptom onset and then may return to school and wear a mask days 6-10.

A parent/guardian should notify the attendance line that their student will be absent, and their planned return date.

Family Trips Scheduled During the School Year

Family Trips Scheduled During the School Year

Although the scheduling of family trips during the instructional year is not encouraged, the Centennial School Board recognizes that students may benefit educationally by accompanying their parent(s)/guardian(s) on trips. Principals are permitted to approve up to five (5) days for students. Any trip beyond five (5) days will need the approval of the Superintendent.

Parent(s)/Guardian(s) who are requesting approval for a family trip need to complete and submit the attached form to their building principal at least three (3) days before the trip.

Canvas Guide for Parents

Please click on the below link which will take you to a step by step guide that has been made for parents to help you with Canvas.

E-Mailing Attendance Notes

In response to parent suggestions, last year the district began accepting absence notes electronically. While you may certainly continue to submit written notes, parents are encouraged to submit absence notes via e-mail.

Below you will find some details.

Please know you will still receive automated phone calls

on the days your child is absent from school.

Please use this email: KLAttendance@centennialsd.org

to report your child absent from Klinger.

E-Mailing Attendance Notes

  • Parents with children in Klinger may e-mail attendance notifications/notes to the following address: KLAttendance@centennialsd.org
  • E-mail notifications are encouraged on the morning of the absence day. However, e-mailed absence notes may be sent on the day following the absence.

  • When sending an absence notification please include the following information:

Child's Name

Child's Grade

Date(s) of Absence

Reason for Absence

Contact Phone # for Parent/Guardian

Other Pertinent Information

  • While you may still continue to call the school on the day of absence, a follow-up e-mail or a written note is still required for the absence to be excused.

Fall Technology Information and Updates

Please visit the District website, Departments--Technology & Online Learning--1:1 Initiative Resource Center, for updates related to 2021 Fall device information (e.g.- return and pick up), technology device agreements, care and responsibility agreements, student/family tech support videos, the Community Help Desk Support Portal, and other technology-related items.

Chromebook Chargers

Please make sure students charge their Chromebooks when they get to 15%. Please do not wait until they get down to zero.

If they need a replacement charger, they can buy them from our tech department or go on Amazon.

Chromebook tip: Charge the Chromebook before your student goes to bed. A full battery will last your student all day.

Chromebook Guidelines

The following are general guidelines to care for your HP Chromebook.

Charging (This is the MOST Important!)

The Chromebook’s display is a sensitive component. If you drop your Chromebook,

slam the lid shut, and/or expose it to excessive pressure or weight, it may crack. Make sure

you don't have anything between the screen and keyboard as you close the case.

Don't place items on top of your Chromebook as the weight can cause damage to the

screen. Always keep magnetic devices away from your Chromebook.

Always close the Chromebook lid prior to moving it.
