DISTRICT ANNOUNCEMENTS & UPDATES
LANCASTER-LEBANON Sumdog Math Contest- February 9-15, 2018 (for current and new users)
Please encourage your students to participate in the Lancaster-Lebanon Sumdog competition. Students simply log onto Sumdog and answer math questions while playing Sumdog games. All the questions are adapted to the student, so everyone has an equal chance of winning. There is a maximum number of questions per student, and results are based on accuracy, so even if you can only get on the computers for a short period of time your class can still be a winner! Questions will reflect what you teach in class as they are standard-aligned. Prizes include a Trophy for the top class in The School District of Lancaster, a certificate for the best student and subscriptions for the top 3 classes in the Lancaster-Lebanon Region. Please use the link below to register. Contact Lisa Marshall for any questions or support in getting involved.

Books for Teachers – Friends of the Lancaster Public Library – Invitation for Teachers
Please share this information with your teachers. It will also be sent directly to teachers next week if book vouchers are still available.
Through the continuing generosity of the Renee B. Fisher Foundation, SDOL teachers are once again being offered the opportunity to enhance their classroom materials with Books for Teachers vouchers. The program is administered in cooperation with the Friends of the Lancaster Public Library – each teacher who participates receives $40 in vouchers that can be redeemed at the two downtown library book stores, or at any of the library book sales in 2018 (the next one is coming up on February 23-25).
The program is open to the first 225 teachers to sign up – to do so, complete this form: https://goo.gl/forms/dFYefiT7C9pOXe302 as soon as possible as the slots fill up very quickly. There is information on the vouchers with the locations of the book stores and the dates and times of all of the special sales.
We have been participating in this program now for a number of years and our teachers have benefited enormously from this opportunity. We are so pleased that the Renee B. Fisher Foundation continues to support this important effort!
If you have any questions, please contact Michael Slechta at OTL.
