Mooooooo-vin' Through March
We had two new friends start in the Panda room after February break - welcome, Julie and Riyaan! We've had fun getting to know our new friends and teaching them our classroom routines. The week after break, we wrapped up our transportation theme by reading books about various vehicles, making buses with tissue paper then putting our pictures in the driver's seat, and washing cars outside. This past week, we transitioned into our March "Animals Around Us" theme by talking about farm animals. During circle time, we matched farm animals to their sounds and put them into the barn. At centers, some activities included making ducks, decorating peacock feathers, gluing cotton balls onto sheep, matching halves of animals, and matching baby animals to their parents.
For P.E., we went up and down slides throughout the school, rode trikes, and did different animal movements (e.g., buzzed like bees, hopped like bunnies) while listening to "Animal Action." We also played a beanbag game in which we ran across the grass, picked up a beanbag with a picture of food on it, and ran back to place it on food group sorting mats. With our friends from Room 4, we put vehicles through shaving cream, did quiet activities in the Calm Corner, played in the farm toy area, and played Musical Chairs. We also walked around campus and practiced following the directions "STOP" and "WALK."
Spring Fling
Save the Date: Friday, April 6 at 3:30. The whole CDC will be having its annual Spring Fling concert, during which groups of classes (the Pandas are partnering with 3 CDC classes and Ms. Renae's tiger room) will get in costumes and perform songs with actions in front of their family and friends. It's the day before our April vacation and not a typical school day for us, but hopefully you'll be able to attend!
March Reminders
- We will be doing St. Patrick's Day activities next week, and then zoo animals/pets, followed by Easter activities
- Please continue to let me know if/when your child will be missing school so I can plan around their absence
