Nelson Mandela was born July 18, 1918 in South Africa. He was a very important part of South Africa's history. He was committed to what he believed in and was not letting anyone take it from him. Even when he was in prison and they offered to release him if he told everyone that he was not supporting the ANC anymore. He was in prison for 27 years with his best friend Walter Sisulu. Every time he was transferred to a different prison Sisulu came with intel he went to Victor Vester Prison. When he was there he was in a prison house and that is when president FW de Klerk came to see Mandela and someone took a picture and showed people and said " While you are starving and in prison Mandela is living in a nice house". After 27 years in prison he was finally released he said that Sisulu had to be let out first and that he would leave when he was ready. So after 5 days he said that he was ready to leave. When he left he had his wife Winnie was right by him. Then when the election time came around all the black citizens were aloud to vote and Mandela ran for president and he won. He made things really different in South Africa for everyone. Then when he served his term he started using money to help with the search of ads in South Africa.
Why he was important
The ANC national league
Well the ANC stands for African National Congress
Well it means a policy or system of segregation or discrimination on grounds of race.
Some of the apartheid laws were
2.There was a immorality amendment act.
3.There was a population registration act.
4.There was a group areas act.
