The Weekly Howl
St. Francis Catholic School - Saturday, July 20th
Dear Parents & Friends of SFCS,
This week at the school the last camp for the season was held by the Athletic Department. The Maintenance Department is almost complete with waxing all the classroom and hallway floors. Next week the carpets will be professionally cleaned. The outside of the school and Multi Purpose Facility will be power washed. Our IT department is working on specific upgrades to our network, student laptops and teacher laptops. All departments are working to make sure the school facility and equipment is ready for the faculty and students to return.
All school families should be receiving in the mail next week a letter from your child(ren)'s classroom teacher(s) and paper copies of other important school information.
In order to reduce the length of The Weekly Howls this year I will attempt to not repeat information unnecessarily. Please take advantage of the "Past Editions..." section at the bottom of each newsletter. The dates listed are actual links to those newsletters. I will also try to make sure to highlight key information for each one.
Stay cool this next month and I continue to look forward to starting another successful year with our faculty, parents and students at St. Francis Catholic School.
Sincerely in Christ,
Brian Pope
Principal

Did you know...?
This means that SFCS operates under the auspices of the Bishop of Charleston, direct authority of our Pastor, Farther Michael Oenbrink, the supervision of the Secretary of Education and Faith Formation and the Superintendent of Catholic Schools, Sandra Leatherwood.
“The pastor is the proper shepherd of the parish entrusted to him, exercising pastoral care in the community entrusted to him under the authority of the Diocesan Bishop in whose ministry of Christ he has been called to share; in accord with the norm of law he carries out for his community the duties of teaching, sanctifying, and governing with the cooperation of other presbyters or deacons and the assistance of lay members of the Christian faithful.” (Canon 519)
The pastor is the representative of the juridical person and designated leader in the parish. (Canon 520, 528, 1 and 773) Consequently, he is responsible to elicit and develop local leadership, collaborate with and support the principal, and work cooperatively with parents/guardians, teachers, school advisory council, and other individuals charged with the direction of Catholic schooling in the parish.
The governance of the parish school is the responsibility of the pastor. On behalf of the parish school, the pastor initiates, employs, delegates, and terminates or accepts the resignation of the principal’s administrative responsibility while retaining his own reserved powers. The principal administers the school program under the supervision of the pastor with the support of a school advisory council.
