2nd Graders Kick off the Global Read Aloud with a mystery skype
We participated in a Mystery Skype with our Pennsylvania friends, an engaging way for classrooms to introduce themselves to each other. Students used their map/geography/communication skills to guess the mystery location of the other classroom. We also spent some time sharing details about our schools, cities, and states with each other.
Mrs. Molina, 2nd grade teacher, had this to say, "I think the Mystery Skype benefited our students because it reinforced the map skills we worked on at the beginning of the year, in a fun and exciting way!"
We look forward to continuing to connect with our buddy classes this month through our shared experience of the Global Read Aloud.
Wanamaker families enjoy book festival
A highlight of the festival was author Aaron Reynolds' presentations. His acting background was evident in his presentations, and there was lots of laughter as he read us his books (Nerdy Bird and Creepy Pair of Underwear) and told us about his life as a writer. When asked what his favorite part of the festival was, 2nd grader Wyatt, responded, "I loved getting chosen from the audience to play Nerd Wars during Aaron Reynolds' presentation. That game was a lot of fun!"
4th Graders Treated to an Author Visit
Mr. Krasnesky is the author of three picture books written in verse--I Always, ALWAYS Get My Way, That Cat Can't Stay, and Pterodactyl Show and Tell. The students enjoyed becoming familiar with his books.
We thank Mr. Krasnesky for sharing his experiences with us and for taking time out of his day to visit us.
