The PTO Fall Fundraiser begins today. We are encouraging all students to participate so that we can earn an ice cream party for our entire school! Top sellers will be entered into a drawing to become Principal for the Day! Finally, all students who participate will earn individual prizes. The fundraiser will conclude with a district wide Wildcat Bash! Please read below to see how you can get started!
Upper Allen World Expo - At this time we have presenters for 11 countries. A letter was sent home today to see if we can add a few more presenters and countries. Parents will also be able to sign up to assist presenters and to serve as tour guides. Please check your child's bookbag for the letter.
Wildcat Bash - Sign up Today!
We are excited to announce our school’s fall fundraiser, the Wildcat Bash! Everything is online and at the end of the two weeks we will have the biggest celebration! The Wildcat Bash will feature music, games, and an inflatable obstacle course inspired by American Ninja Warrior!
Our school goal is $20,000 and we need your help! All you need to do is register your student online and share our fundraiser with your family and friends! All donations need submitted by October 22nd.
3 Quick Steps to register online and support our school:
1. Register your child online at //charity.PledgeIt.org/wildcatbash
2. Click “Become A Fundraiser” & select your student’s classroom
3. Enter your students name and share with your family friends!
*Parents must register their student first before sharing with friends & family to ensure their student gets credit for prizes. Parents with multiple students will need to use a different email address to sign up additional students.
💥 If every family reaches $50 in donations, we will reach our school’s fundraising goal and your child will receive a free event t-shirt
💥 If your child reaches $150 in donations, they will win the Wildcat Bash Swag Bag!
💥 If your child reaches $300 in donations, they will receive a free Wildcat Bash hoodie too!
To find a list of all the other prizes they can win and more fundraising information, see the fundraising flyer that was sent home with students today. This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and every donation adds up! It is over in two weeks and will help us eliminate all of the small fundraisers throughout the year as well!
Thank you in advance for ALL of your support!”

Fall Parent Teacher Conferences
October 20th-29th, 2021
These conferences provide a great opportunity for teachers and families to meet to discuss student progress over the first few months of school. Your participation is essential, as you are truly your child's first teacher and you know them best!
You have the option this year of meeting your child's teacher face-to-face at Upper Allen OR virtually via Zoom. Either way, we appreciate your time. Please understand teachers can only schedule one conference per family, but can be a combination of face-to-face and virtual participation if needed.
Also, you may want to schedule a conference with your child's regular education teacher as well as any of our Fine and Applied Arts teachers (Music, PE, Art, Library). These educators have valuable insights about students outside the classroom setting and can be a good resource for additional information about your child.

What Happens After Screenings....
Elementary Academic Screenings
The beginning of the school year provides your child’s teacher the opportunity to get to know your child’s strengths and needs through multiple avenues. An important component of this process is our district-wide universal screening completed at the beginning, middle, and end of the year. Your child just recently completed a battery of screening assessments to check their progress in areas of Reading and Math. The goal of these screening assessments is to reveal any areas of particular concern. Your child’s teacher will review their data with our school’s intervention team and together they will determine if additional intervention, beyond what is available to them in the classroom, is needed. If that would be the case, a staff member would be in touch.
Mechanicsburg Elementary Weekend Food Bag Program
Mechanicsburg Area School District is privileged to offer a weekend food distribution program for families in need. The purpose of the program is to provide non-perishable, vitamin-fortified, and easy to prepare foods to children at times when school resources are not available, such as weekends and school vacations. Bags will include two breakfasts, two meals, and two snacks. The program is free of charge.
If your family is interested in receiving weekend food bags, please return the form below to Mrs. Padfield, school counselor (only one per family is needed).
Volunteers Needed:
We are in need of volunteers to pack food bags, and volunteers to pick the bags up from the Kindergarten Academy and deliver to Upper Allen. If you are interested in helping please contact Mrs. Padfield
BOOKFLIX
BookFlix is a fantastic e-book website from Scholastic that we access through our AccessPA subscription. It includes a wide variety of fiction and nonfiction texts that are paired by topic or theme. Many of the fiction books are more like movies (with the text highlighted on the screen) and many of the nonfiction books are true e-books. Attached is a file that has a list of the titles available through this service. There have been some recent additions that are very useful for elementary, so if you haven’t looked at it recently it might be worth another look. You can access BookFlix via the POWER Kids link at the bottom of the library website for your building (from mbgsd.org go to District Services -> Library Services, then click on your building and scroll to the bottom). Note—POWER Kids is location verified so it will work from school without a password. If you attempt to access it from home you’ll need to input your personal local library card number. If you have any questions please see Sarah George.
