Trex Plastic Film Recycling Challenge Update!

Roadrunners, thank you for supporting Aspen's campaign for the Trex Plastic Film Recycling Challenge this year! We ended up collecting a total of 332 pounds of plastic film, which will be recycled into composite Trex decking and other outdoor products. While we did not win any prizes for collections, we are happy to announce that our school was awarded a $3,000 check for winning 2nd place in the social media category!

Approximately 780 schools registered for the nationwide challenge and collectively recycled over 420,000 pounds of plastic film! Thank you for your help and for keeping plastic out of our landfills.

School Site Council Nominations

We are seeking two parents to serve on School Site Council (SSC) for the 2023-2024 school year. This is an elected two year term position. One of the primary functions of SSC is to develop, monitor, and evaluate the school’s Single Plan for Student Achievement (SPSA).

If you are interested in being nominated or in nominating someone else for this position, please contact Stacey Coombe at scoombe@conejousd.org by no later than Friday, May 12, 2023.

Drop Off/Pick Up Reminders

Here are some reminders to assist us in keeping our students safe in the parking lot:

  • Stay in the right hand lane, move all the way forward, and ONLY drop your student off from the right side of the vehicle when in the parking lot.
  • Do not allow your child to walk unattended between cars.
  • Never leave your vehicle unattended in the drive-thru lanes.
  • Do not block intersections along Oberlin Avenue while waiting to enter the parking lot.
  • Please do not park in front of mailboxes or driveways in the surrounding neighborhood

TK & Kindergarten Parent Education Series

Families with children who will be entering Transitional Kindergarten and Kindergarten are invited to attend a three-part TK & Kindergarten Parent Education Series. These free, virtual webinars will offer tools, tips, and tricks to help families and their students be and feel prepared for the first day of the 2023-2024 school year in August.

PLAYGROUNDS BEFORE SCHOOL

Please note that all playgrounds are closed before school and students should not be playing on the playgrounds, as this is a safety concern due to the lack of adult supervision. All students are expected to line up outside of their classrooms if they arrive before the first bell at 8:12 am. Please assist us in reminding your students to not play on the playgrounds before school. Thank you for your help in keeping our students safe.

INTERESTED IN BEING A CAMPUS SAFETY ASSISTANT?

We are looking for any interested adults to work mornings before school. Please contact Stacey Coombe, our Office Manager, if you are interested in this opportunity!
