Hillcrest Family Newsletter

January 8th, 2021

Welcome to 2021!

What a great start in this new year for our Hillcrest community! It was wonderful seeing our learners back at school and we know our virtual friends were happy to get back as well. It is hard to believe that we are almost halfway through the entire school year.

A couple reminders now that we are back in school:

* Kids love playing in the snow. Please be sure to send winter gear with your child every day. It is helpful to have a bag for them to put their gear in for transport to home and school. Boots, snowpants and gloves keeps students playing on the playground and dry in the classroom. If you need any supplies, please let us know.

*I know we all have a long list of items to check off before sending your child ready to learn everyday. Be sure to add a clean mask, water bottle and charged iPad with your child every day.

*Be sure to check for symptoms of illness everyday before sending your child to school. If your child has symptoms of COVID, has had contact with anyone who has tested positive for COVID or has had contact with anyone who is awaiting the results of a COVID test, they should stay home. Please call the office and let us know the reason they will be out if the reason is COVID related.

*We need your help at drop off and pick up to make sure that process runs smoothly. Please ONLY PARK in designated parking spaces in the lot. The Drop Off Lane is for a quick drop off and pick up only. Please do not leave your car if you use this lane. Most families park their car and walk young students to the playground to ensure a safe drop off. Older students, who are able to enter the car and buckle their own seatbelt, are able to enter and exit your vehicle on the passenger side of the car.

Thank you for helping to keep our school running safely!

Remember: Inter-District Transfer/School Choice Application Period Closes at 4:30 PM TODAY!

Attendance Reminders from Student Services

Due to the current pandemic, we understand that students will be absent from school more than usual. Please continue to keep your children home if they are experiencing any possible COVID symptoms, or if anyone in your family is awaiting a COVID test result.

Because students are missing in-person schooling more this year due to symptoms and quarantines, it is especially important for them to be in school when they are healthy and it is safe to be here. Please work to schedule family vacations during our school breaks, and continue to communicate with our attendance secretary regarding student absences.

Please look over your student’s attendance in Infinite Campus and let us know if there are any errors. As we continue to move classes in and out of quarantine, the attendance coding must be switched in Infinite Campus. We have been monitoring and cleaning up any errors but if we have missed anything, please reach out to the office.

We appreciate your support as we “Stay Safe to Stay Open”
