Preparing to Return for MP2
Wildcat Corner November 2020
Dear Parents,
We are so excited to finally be able to see our virtual Wildcats on November 9th! We want to update you on procedures we will be following to ensure the safety of our staff and students that have been in place since September. Our official school hours are 8:00 am - 3:30 pm.
Classroom Arrangements
Our classrooms will have a combination of face-to-face and virtual students. In the classroom, social distancing will be implemented to the extent feasible. Classrooms have been provided with student desk shields that offer an additional layer of protection.
First Day of MP2 (2nd Marking Period)
We are looking forward to a great first day back face to face. It is so important that we safely receive our students and practice social distancing. Everything will take longer. Thank you for your patience and understanding.
Arrival
There will be no early drop off. We will open the dismissal doors at 7:40am. Students will either arrive by car, bus or walking to school. We will stagger the unloading of buses this school year. All bus riders will enter the cafeteria for grab-and-go breakfast. Car riders this year will have a new location. Car riders will now be located in the circular drive toward the playground and portables. Car riders will enter the gym to receive their grab-and-go breakfast. All hikers will need to go to the crosswalk to be able to enter the side of the building. All hikers will enter the doors by the bike racks only. They will get their grab-and-go breakfast in the hallway before they head to class. Only bus riders will be able to enter into the cafeteria. Students will enter the building at 7:40am.
Dismissal
Please be patient as we adhere to safety guidelines during dismissal. Dismissal the first couple of weeks for MP2 (2nd Marking Period) will be longer. Please be patient as we implement many new procedures and maintain social distancing at the same time.
Masks
The district updated the Face Mask Guidelines available in the Lead Safely section of the CFISD website. Guidelines state, “All staff and students (grades PK-12) will wear face masks on buses, in hallways and common areas, and when social distancing is not feasible, including in classrooms.” Face shields can be worn but only with a mask. All students (grades PK-12) must wear face masks on buses, in hallways and in common areas. Students will wear a face mask when entering and/or exiting the gym, playground, or activity space and when not actively engaged in physical activity. Additionally, all students (grades PK-12) will be required to wear face masks in the classroom when social distancing is not feasible and/or the teacher's method for delivery of instruction warrants the use of face masks.
School Supplies
Whether online or face-to-face, students need school supplies for a successful year. No supplies will be shared this school year. Each child will use only his or her own supplies.
PE, Art, Music (PEAM)
Face-to-face students will go to PEAM daily. Large group teachers will sanitize all materials between classes. PE will occur outside whenever possible so students can space out even more.
Lunch
Students will eat lunch in the cafeteria with their grade level and will sit in every other seat and not directly across from one another. There will be x’s and checkmarks to assist students to identify available seats. For the safety of all, there will be no lunch visitors and no lunch drop offs until further notice.
Recess
At this time, we will have classes at certain zones on the playground. Students are not required to wear a mask when playing at recess. When needed, staff will ask students to space out across the playground.
Coming to Campus
Due to Covid-19, we are limiting visitors and volunteers. When coming to campus, you will be asked about your visit through the doorbell. Appointments will be required this year. If you need to pick up your child early, please provide a written note that morning. We will greet you at the door with your child after your driver’s license is scanned and clear to take the child home.
We are so excited to have our students back with us! We will work together to ensure safety and success for all of our Wildcats. Our teachers have been working very hard to learn and plan how to best educate our students both face-to-face and virtually. Please allow grace and flexibility as we enter a new school year that is very different. Please be patient as we work through how to provide the best education for your child. We are looking forward to seeing our Wildcats on November 9, 2020.
