Metaphor
Example:Jake works in a large office building two blocks away from his home. Jake has worked for 9 hours straight and still has 6 to go. Jake has grown very sleepy and feels as if he's going to pass out. Jake can only remember the soft whispers of his bed calling him to come back. Jake needs to recharge after a long day at work but doesn't know when or if he'll get to leave. Finally the hours go by it feels like for ever but feels nice, Jake is allowed to leave this treacherous place and go home, to his sweet bed calling him.Jake fell onto his pillow and softly lay their his bed hugging him in a tight embrace, he soon drifted off into "snooze city."
Idiom
Example:Laura was in her room on a beautiful sunny morning, her mom asked her to go outside and play, but Laura despised the idea of leaving her room all she wanted to do was sit and listen to her music.Laura's mother once again checked on Laura to find her sitting on her rump jamming out.Laura's mother quickly said "Laura you are such a couch potato all you do all day is sit and listen to music."Laura's mom took Laura's phone away and ordered her to go play outside.Laura went outside to play but, to her surprise her best friend Marie was waiting outside for her. Laura and Marie spent the whole after noon together, and from there on Laura played outside every day instead of listening to music outside
Pun
Example:Sara was sitting in her room when Daniel walked, and told Sara "my car has been toed."Sara became worried and asked"How was your car towed?" Daniel exclaimed "Simple. I placed my toe on my car."Sarah turned to Daniel and said "You had me so worried. I thought your car was actually towed,but I still hate you."
Oxymoron
Example:Joe and Ann were arguing in the kitchen.They created a fuss about Samantha.Samantha is a new girl in their grade.Joe said to Ann"I think she's pretty ugly."Ann quickly responded"No way she's awfully beautiful."They kept going on and on saying things like"Samantha is seriously funny" and "You clearly misunderstood her." Finally Joe and Ann met Samantha and found out she's terribly cool.
Irony
Example:Emily and Mark were going to have their wedding this Sunday at a beautiful beach side venue.The day of their wedding finally arrived.Mark got all dressed up ,and so did Emily in a beautiful mermaid style wedding gown.Mark and Emily thought that this would be the most wonderful and spectacular day of them all not to mention happy.They arrived at the venue just to discover it was pouring rain.Emily's gown became ruined,her make up smeared,her hair soaking wet.Mark and Emily thought they would have to postpone the wedding,but Mark had an idea.The soaking wet bride and groom grabbed umbrellas and continued on with the wedding.
