Welcome back!

I hope that you all had a relaxing Spring Break despite the lack of sunshine! We couldn't of asked for a better first week back. The students did a fantastic job showing CORE behaviors. They worked together to go referral free 2 days this week, earning 2 more letters and are 2 letters away from spelling out ROCKETS and earning a whole school party. I'm super proud of everyone! Please continue to expect CORE behavior from your child at home and out in the community.

The month of April not only brings us warmer weather...it also brings standardized test for all 3rd and 4th grade students. Our testing season will begin the week of April 22nd and last through the week of May 17th. As you schedule appointments during this time frame, please make sure to avoid these dates as the ILEARN assessment is a mandatory and critical assessment that all students in grade 3 and 4 must participate in. Perfect attendance during this assessment is critical in your child's success! Thank you in advance for being mindful of the schedule.

The final 8 weeks of school are packed full of exciting events staring with a visit from Alex and Joe from the radio station 100.9 on Monday, Sheldon Day, defensive tackle for the San Francisco 49'ers, and our Warren Central State Football Champs on Wednesday. We will kick this week off with Kindergarten Round-up (located at Eastridge Elementary enter through Door #13), STEAM Night (located at Warren Central High School enter through Door #1), and a 1 hour late start on April 10th. Our 3rd and 4th grade choir, The Noteables will be performing at 6:30PM on STEAM Night. I hope you all are able to attend.

Looking forward to a successful term 4,

Mrs. Johnson

ILEARN ASSESSMENT

3rd and 4th Graders will take the new statewide assessment called ILEARN. This is the assessment that has replaced ISTEP. The ILEARN testing window opens on Monday, April 22. Fourth grade will have an additional Science assessment that they will complete. For more information about ILEARN, please visit the IDOE website at https://www.doe.in.gov/assessment/ilearn

ECC will host three family literacy workshops as outlined below:

  • Thursday, April 25; 6:00-7:15 p.m.- Focus on Birth to Age 4

  • Thursday, May 9; 6:00-7:15 p.m.- Focus on Kindergarten and 1st Grade, up to age 7

  • Thursday, May 23; 6:00-7:15 p.m.- Focus on 2nd Grade and 3rd Grade, up to age 9

IUL teaches the workshops, provides dinner, how-to guides for parents and reading materials for children. ECC will provide child care for families whom would otherwise not be able to attend. Contact the WECC with any questions: 317.869.4750
