Fall Planning Update
Hello D103 families,
Thank you for participating in the survey regarding in-person or remote learning for the fall. We asked you to provide your best guess about whether you would enroll your children for in-person or remote learning for the fall based on four different scenarios. Those scenarios were:
Covid remains the same as now (high transmission), 3-foot (or less) distance is allowed by health authorities.
Covid remains the same as now (high transmission), 6-foot distance is required by health authorities.
Covid decreases (lower transmission), 3-foot (or less) distance is allowed by health authorities.
Covid decreases (lower transmission), 6-foot distance is required by health authorities.
The table below shows the results of those surveys. Incoming kindergarten families as well as returning students, except for eighth-grade, were included in the survey. We received 1204 responses.
The district has approximately 50% of students in-person and 50% of students learning remotely. This new information shows that parents are more likely to send their children in-person in the fall, regardless of the transmission rate or the distance requirement.
The State of Illinois released additional guidance for the 6-foot distance requirement for schools. The State is now stating that 6-feet is optimal, but 3-6 feet is acceptable. With the vaccine being made available for students sometime during the 2021-2022 school year we will plan to be ready for 100% of students returning in the fall, fully anticipating that all students will return at some point during the year.
Thank you again for providing your input as this helps us plan for a successful start to the year for the fall of 2021.
Sincerely,
Scott Warren, Ed.D
Superintendent of D103

This LFF Legacy Brick Fundraiser video, narrated by Daniel Wright Principal Michelle Blackley and featuring the new school mascot, outlines the project. This is a great opportunity to bring our community together, so please consider a donation. The Learning Fund and all of our schools appreciate your generous support.
