Sheldon recognizes staff member for outstanding customer service
This week, administrators surprised a Sheldon ISD employee with the CARE award which stands for Caught Acting and Responding with Excellence. The award, in partnership with Woodforest Bank, is presented to employees who are nominated by their peers and community for their dedication to serving the students and staff of Sheldon ISD with exemplary customer service skills. The winner is listed below:
Brooke Luther - Drill Team Director - King High School
Mrs. Luther has been nominated for professionalism, patience, and a “people-first” attitude & "student-first" attitude first. Regardless of the day she is having or how full her schedule is she always makes sure that her students are taken care of and that parents/staff/community are informed of events and takes care of others without hesitation.
CARE Award winners receive a $100 gift card from Woodforest Bank. The award is presented quarterly to Sheldon ISD employees.
King High School student advances in state choir contest
King High School sophomore Arielle Monuma-Antoine has earned a top five ranking in the Texas All-State Choir audition process. She competed December first at Pre-Area which is the third of four rounds of competition. She will audition on January 7 at The Woodlands High School for a chance to earn a spot in the All-State Choir. Arielle is a Soprano 1.
Volunteers! Please remember to log your hours
Since September, Sheldon ISD volunteers have logged more than 1,100 volunteer hours. We know there are probably more hours not accounted for. Please go into the Portal to log your hours

Do you want to volunteer in Sheldon ISD schools?
Student success can be achieved by the community working together to invest time to support students and staff. This can be done by establishing partnerships within the community from groups such as parents, businesses, organizations, real estate developers and more. Families in Action serves to provide assistance by donating time to give back to Sheldon ISD schools. Families in Action may be moms, dads, grandparents, aunts, uncles, cousins, guardians, and more. What is a volunteer?
Someone who spends several hours each work working and serving in our schools and buildings. Please read the volunteer handbook here in English and Spanish.
How do I become a volunteer?
- Apply - Every volunteer is required to complete a volunteer application. This provides a way for the district to place you with an opportunity that matches your request to our needs. Volunteers must pass a routine background check to serve in our schools. Our policy requires volunteers to complete and submit a criminal background check prior to interacting in our schools and with students. A new check must be completed by volunteers each school year. For safety precautions, a background check is required for all volunteers working with or around children - this includes attending field trips.
- Training - If your application has been approved, volunteers will be notified to attend a training session. This is a required training and orientation prior to starting the volunteer experience in Sheldon.
- Placement - After attending the training, volunteers will be placed to volunteer based on the information provided on the application. Volunteers will be connected to the campus where they will be serving at that time.
- Check the Portal - Check the Portal to learn more about opportunities to volunteer and manage your hours. You are not able to access the portal until you have passed a background check.
Are you receiving texts from Sheldon ISD?
With the start of a new semester, now is the time to make sure that you are receiving text messages from Sheldon ISD. Your cell phone number entered in Skyward Family Access syncs to the district's automated text messaging service. Please make sure you opt in by texting 'Y' to 67587.

The Community Bulletin Board is available on the District’s website where approved non-school materials for distribution to students will be electronically posted. This information can be for distribution to elementary or secondary students or both. Links to the Community Bulletin Board can be found on campus web sites and the district's site
