What are the main cultural differences Bhutan and the USA?

There are many differences between life in Bhutan and life in the United States. The biggest difference between these two cultures is with food and eating. Another major difference is with religion. The last major difference between Bhutan and the United States is with the dress.

Food and Eating: Bhutan Part 1

Food and Eating is the most important cultural difference between Bhutan and the United States. It is the biggest difference because the people of Bhutan eat on the ground or on very small tables. Bhutan people eat the same basic meal every meal every day. They eat rice, curry, and tea. While they are eating the same thing most Americans have so many opportunities to try so many different foods.

Dress: Bhutan Part 1

Women in Bhutan wear a kira: a large rectangular cloth wrapped from ankle to bicep and belted at the waist; it is fastened at the shoulders and worn under a jacket.



Men wear a gho; a long sleeved, ankle-length robe hoisted to knee level and belted tightly so that it form small pleats in the back and a deep pocket at the stomach.
