Haymarket Happenings

November 2021

Need Assistance?

Haymarket E.S. has a group of professionals who make up the Unified Mental Health team. This team is comprised of the school’s School Counselors, School Social Worker, and School Psychologist under the leadership of the School Administrators. The team utilizes an interdisciplinary approach to support the needs of students, families, and stakeholders through direct service (individual counseling, small groups, and classroom guidance leadership lessons); collaboration with colleagues, parents, and teachers; and consultation. The Unified Mental Health team analyzes data, addresses crisis, trauma and coping, and plans student intervention, utilizing a tiered approach to service provision to support student behavioral and academic growth.

The United Mental Health team strives to ensure that all students are physically and emotionally available for learning so that they can achieve success. If your child is needing any extra support outside of school, we can help you locate the appropriate resources. If there are environmental stressors that are impacting your family such as a loss, abuse, homelessness, or food insufficiency, we can provide information about community resources that may help improve the situation. Additionally, with the holiday season upon us, please reach out if your family could use support during this time.

Honoring our Veterans

Veterans Day is fast approaching! This year we want to continue our tradition of honoring our students’ military family members who have served or who are currently serving in the military in some capacity.

We are asking parents to e-mail a photo of their military family member or a photo of their military family member and loved ones to Mr. Baldwin, including their name. Please have all pictures turned into Mr. Baldwin by Monday, November 8th by 9:00 a.m. My e-mail address is baldwisl@pwcs.edu.

Scholastic Book Fair is back!

Dear Parents and Families,

We’re excited to invite you to our upcoming Scholastic Book Fair. This event is an opportunity for students of all ages to build their home libraries and further their love of reading. As always, all purchases benefit our school. Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from November 29th-December 3rd in the library.

Our Book Fair offers a cash-free payment option called eWallet. It’s a convenient digital account that your child can use for shopping at our Fair. Grandparents, friends, and others can contribute, too! If you create an eWallet your child's name will be entered into a drawing for a free book from the Book Fair. There will be one winner per grade level.

If you can’t make it to the Fair, then shop online at our school’s Virtual Book Fair. All orders ship directly to your home, and shipping is free for book orders over $25. Your online orders will also benefit our school.

Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping: https://www.scholastic.com/bf/haymarketelem

We're excited to celebrate our love of books together at the Book Fair!

Happy Reading!
