Twain Update - Week of Sunday, November 22, 2020
Learning Continues as we "Pause to Save Lives"
For all the details regarding the decisions made at the Emergency Board of Education meeting on Monday, November 16, please visit our district webpage here. It's crucial that parents continue to check their emails regularly to keep updated, too.
In the meantime, we wanted to offer two downloadable resources for families to share with young students who may be struggling with all of these changes. You can download those social stories below.
In addition, if your child is struggling emotionally due to the stress of the pandemic, family illness or loss, changes to their school/ social life, or in any other way, PLEASE reach out to us for help. We can help get your family the resources & support you need:
Mrs. Woods, Principal - laura.woods@fraserk12.org
Mrs. Gonsler, School Social Worker - ashley.lenard@fraserk12.org
Ms. Kelly, School Psychologist - cassy.kelly@fraserk12.org
Student-Involved Virtual Conferences This Monday & Tuesday!
ATTENTION ALL TWAIN FAMILIES:
Be on the look out Monday morning for an email from your child's current teacher with the GoToMeeting link for your assigned conference time. Please be prompt since they are scheduled back to back, and teachers have to stick to their schedules. We hope your children will be able to attend with you, even if they have to log in from a separate location, and we ask that you PLEASE plan to turn your camera on to allow an authentic discussion.
If you have not yet signed up for your child's conference, please do so using THIS LINK. Don't miss out on this important time to connect with your child and his/her teacher to discuss learning progress!
Thank you!
ATTENTION ALL FAMILIES!
For both small-group cohort students and virtual-only students, our teachers have projects, learning materials, and packets of activities to send home from first trimester. We also have learning materials and workbooks that students will need as they start Trimester 2 on November 30th (potentially with a new teacher), so it's very important that parents make it a priority to come get these items.
Families can send a healthy, masked adult to pick-up their student(s)' items on Monday, November 23rd or Tuesday, November 24th between the following times:
- 9:00am to 11:30am
- 1:00pm t0 3:30pm
Please plan to come to the Media Center door near the electronic sign. Please make sure you have a mask on and that you distance appropriately.
If you have questions, please reach out to our office.
Wednesday, 11/23 to Friday, 11/26
Happy Thanksgiving to all of our Twain Families!
We know families are eager for in-person learning to resume just as soon as it's safe and advisable to do so. We hope you'll keep this in mind as you consider your family's Thanksgiving plans. Please remember that during a pandemic, our choices don't just impact ourselves. When it comes to returning to school, everyone's choices outside of school will impact the health and well-being of our students and staff inside of school and throughout our school community. Please partner with us to keep our community healthy and to get this virus under control so we can return to in-person learning for those who have chosen it.
For ideas about how to celebrate Thanksgiving more safely this year, see the infographic below, or visit the CDC's recommendations here.
Twain Picture Days On Hold
Since schools are closed for in-person learning during this 3-Week pause, we will need to postpone school pictures. More information will follow later on when school can resume for in-person instruction.
Continued Covid-19 Communication
We hope our Twain families are staying healthy. Please continue to reach out (even during our closure) to keep us updated about your family's health and notify the office if someone in your household tests positive for Covid-19 or if you find out that your child has been exposed to someone who has tested positive. This will allow us to be prepared with next steps when we are able to re-open.
