Online Registration OPEN NOW 2022-23 sy -REGISTER YOUR CHILD(REN) NOW!!

There will not be a district-wide registration day this year. ONLINE REGISTRATION IS OPEN NOW!! We encourage all families to register their child(ren) NOW. Visit www.scec.k12.in.us/enrollment. You must have your username and password. If you have any questions or need assistance please contact your school. Please remember that you MUST REGISTER you child(ren) EVERY YEAR.

Summer School Registration

Please don't miss this FREE great opportunity!! Summer school is being offered to all SCEC students from PreK thru 12th grade. Breakfast and lunch is being provided. Transportation . Summer school will be housed at Washington for Washington and Lincoln; McKinley for McKinley and Harrison, Carrie Gosch Early Learning Center, Block Middle and EC Central HS. Students will be getting the extra help in the morning. Enrichment classes are being offered in the afternoon with community partners: Top 20, Boys/Girls Club, EC Park and Recreation Dept., Community in Schools, and Infinity Therapeutic Services. Also Fun Fridays have been planned for attendance incentive. Field trips have been scheduled for Lincoln Park Zoo, Wicker Park, Deep River Water Park, Jaks Warehouse, AMC and Olympia Lanes. Also, a Freshman Academy has been planned with Community In Schools (CIS) - 8th graders going to 9th grade can enroll and earn a credit. They will learn about being a freshman at the high school. Click on the link to register your child(ren). Seats are limited. You will receive a call confirmation your child(ren) seat.

Kindergarten Round Up

All new kindergartners to the district may register at Harrison, Lincoln, McKinley and Washington Elementary School. Please bring with you the documents listed above.

Block Middle School - 5th school to recieve "Enchanted Backpack" Donation

On April 28th Block Middle School became the 5th school in SCEC to receive the "Enchanted Backpack" donation. Two vans pulled up at the Block Middle School front entrance and were received by a group of students with posters and shout-outs of "Thank You". The remainder of the school were in testing.

Cardinals celebrate Unified Sports

On April 8th EC Central HS held a prep rally about inclusion, awareness of bullying and diversity. They also held a basketball game along with Unified Sports. They held a moment of silence for one for HR Director Robert Doctor who passed away suddenly. This day was also the last day for Cynthia Wilson, Interim Athletic Director. Cindy Wilson is a dedicated and hardworking person. We congratulate her on her new journey. She will always be a "Cardinal" where ever she may go

EC Council recognizes students from EC Central HS

On April 20, 2022 EC Council rcognized three (s) EC Central HS students. Two wrestlers Julian Guerrero and Jeantate . They are wrestlers that won in their category and it was a first time tat champions. Dulce "Mayleen" Guerrero received a full ride scholarship to John Hopkins University.

Carrie Gosch Early Learning Center

Carrie Gosch students attended a railroad safety presentation on April 27th. Officer Roberto Favela, Officer JP Furman, Officer James Stout from CSX and Officer Charlie Mattheson from Indiana Harbor Belt Railroad showed students a railroad safety video and then discussed important information from the video with students. The pre-k students were very engaged and participated throughout the presentation. The students received keychains and pencils from the officers. Thank you to these amazing officers for exposing our students to railroad safety to help keep them safe!

Volunteer Orientation

Please remember that in order to chaperone or volunteer in our school district you must complete the process. The volunteer application is on the district website at www.scec.k12.in.us in English/Spanish. The application must be completed in full and submitted with a current valid picture ID. The school will be notified and the teacher liaison will notify you of your status. End of year activities are coming up and please remember you may go to any of the orientations scheduled. To complete the process you must attend the mandatory orientation.

The last two (2) orientations for the month of May is:

May 9th at 1:00 pm at Lincoln Elementary School

May 11th at McKinley Elementary School at 11 am.

We're BACK!!!

SCEC Back to School Rally (BTSR) is scheduled for Saturday, August 6, 2022 at EC Central HS from 12 to 4 pm. We will have vendors with community resources, food pantry. The BTSR is a celebration to the start of the school year. We try to help SCEC families to get a start for the new school year. Apart from school supplies, backpacks, vouchers will be given for uniforms. Backpacks and vouchers will be available to SCEC families.
