Blanche Dodd Bobcat News
February 2018
Message from our Principal
February is the month of love, and we'd like to show some love to our Dodd counselor, Mrs. Tracy Reynolds. February 5th-9th is National School Counselor Recognition Week. I'd like to dedicate this message to honoring the work that Mrs. Reynolds does on a daily basis at Dodd.
Mrs. Reynolds is an advocate for our students. She works with several small groups to meet a variety of student needs. Small groups include
- Grief & Loss Group
- Kids' Breakfast Club (for students with divorced/separated parents)
- Friendship Group
- Anger, Stress, & Anxiety Managment
She also works with individual students when a crisis arises or just when someone needs a listening ear.
Mrs. Reynolds serves as the Section 504 coordinator for Dodd and is in charge of all testing for the Gifted & Talented program. She supports our teachers and students by heading up the Response to Intervention Team, and she is often seen working with teachers to find a solution for various concerns that arise.
Mrs. Reynolds provides guidance lessons to all classes throughout the year. Through this guidance program, character lessons are taught using the Character Counts Curriculum which focus on six different positive traits. She has established the Character Counts Awards given to one student per class each six weeks who are selected for demonstrating the character trait for that time period. It is always a delight to recognize these outstanding Dodd citizens.
Mrs. Reynolds is an integral part of the Dodd family and we are fortunate to have her serving our students each day. If you'd like to know more about her role at Dodd, please contact her or refer to the information on her website.

Counselor's Corner
We have a very important semester ahead of us and your child will be challenged with new grade level materials. Please encourage your child to complete all homework assignments in order to review the skills that are taught in class. If homework is a battle at your house, please read the following "Guidelines for Helping With Homework" so you can support your child but continue to hold them accountable for this school responsibility.
