NEWS FROM THE STUDENT SERVICES DEPARTMENT
Our New Name!
Student Services Department
Our Central Bucks “Guidance” Department will now be known as “Student Services” Department. We have made this name change K-12 to better represent the wide-range of services that our department provides to students and families across the district. While we certainly provide “guidance” to students, our School Counselors, School Psychologists, Student Support Social Workers, Student Support Counselors, and Nurses provide services including academic planning; college and career planning; social and emotional programs and initiatives; physical wellness; connections to community resources (financial, housing, food, services); and educational record management. We look forward to seeing students and families in our Student Services Office!
Class of 2023 Info:
- Parent/Guardian Info Session -- College Application Process The Senior Counselors, Lori Bagnick and Lisa Corr, will be hosting an Info Session on the College Application Process for Parents/Guardians on Thursday, 9/8/22 from 5:45 PM to 6:45 PM in the CBW Auditorium, just prior to Back to School Night (which starts at 7pm). We will review the basics of the students’ application process, including the Common Application, requesting transcripts and recommendations in Naviance, and more. Before attending, it would be helpful for families to familiarize themselves with the College Application Process website. You may even print out the College Packet and bring it with you to the Session to take notes if desired. Your students may already have been given this packet at the Student Workshop we hosted during lunch and learn last week, but we expect more will be attending just before our Parent/Guardian Info Session. (See below)
- Student Workshops– College Application Process All Seniors who plan to apply to college this year must attend College Application Process Workshops which will be held during Lunch & Learn, through September 9th. These workshops review all aspects of the application process and the steps students need to take to allow them to request transcripts and letters of recommendation through Naviance. Students will receive a college Packet, with step-by-step instructions, and there will be time for Q&A. Specifics about times/locations of these Workshops have been sent to students via email and Canvas announcements, and flyers have been posted in students’ Advisories.
Class of 2024:
College Admissions Exams
- During 11th grade, students should plan on taking either the SAT or ACT after they have completed Algebra 2. This will ensure they see the Math content that will be on these exams. The SAT/ACT are separate from the PSAT in October, which is a practice exam for the SAT. These organizations are independent from Central Bucks; registration for the SAT/ACT is directly through the organization’s website (listed below).
- SAT Registration: https://satsuite.collegeboard.org/sat/registration
- ACT Registration: https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/the-act/registration.html
PSAT Registration for 10th and 11th grade students:
Registration for the Saturday, October 15th PSAT at CB West High School will be open on the My Payments Plus website from Monday, August 22nd until Monday, September 12th. The registration window is consistent with the timeline set by the College Board so that all who sign up during this period will be guaranteed an exam.
The PSAT is recommended for all college-bound 10th & 11th grade students as practice for the SAT. If you are unfamiliar with the benefits of taking the PSAT, you can explore the information provided on the College Board website: https://parents.collegeboard.org/college-board-programs/psat-nmsqt.
Please visit the Testing page of the Student Services website for exam details and registration instructions!

Student Parking
The student parking lottery is now over. Students can still submit paperwork, but parking spaces will be assigned by the safety and security office.
All students who drive to CB West, whether they park in the lots or on the street, must register their vehicles. Parking registration forms are located in the security office and on the CB West Website. Students may not park on MacFarlane Lane or in the Faculty Parking Lots or in Spaces 200-210, 260-279, 319-344 and 374-385.
The cost for student parking permits for the 2022-2023 school year is as follows:
Full Year Permit - $100
2nd Semester Permit - $60
Additionally, we must continue to be good neighbors. Therefore, we ask that students DO NOT park in the YMCA parking lot, the First Baptist Church of Doylestown parking lot, or at Chestnut Grove.
