Breakout EDU
We only have one breakout box...how does that work?
You could have groups work on it and each group tries to open the box first. You could do the breakout over the course of a couple days, sending one group at a time to complete it.
You could also think about using physical clues but digital locks.
There ARE options, so if you are interested in the idea of a breakout, please talk to your Digital Learning Coach about it!
I want to do a breakout. How do I get started?
Start collecting resources that the kids can explore. Is there a particularly good website that you want them to visit? Is there a SHORT video you think is excellent? Do you have a PowerPoint that would be a good addition. Maybe there is a reading passage that you like or a set of sample problems to add to the mix. This collection of resources will look very different from one breakout to the next because the subject matter can be so different. That is what makes this fun!
Now start thinking about format. Do you want to do this as a physical breakout or a digital one? Maybe a combination of the two would work best. Your resources may affect this decision as well as class logistics.
Let your DLC know! Some of you may be comfortable enough with the breakout concept to build one on your own, while others might need more help. At the very least your DLC can help be a sounding board and can help test your breakouts, and if you do a digital one they can create some (or a lot) of it for you!
