From the Principal's Desk
Hello DiPietro Families,
This week you will be receiving an extra email from me. 3rd-grade parents will be receiving an additional phone call and email as well. Early in the week, I will be finalizing what the weeks of June 8th and June 12th will look like.
I would like to strongly encourage you to have your child attend all Google Meets/Hangouts that the teachers are planning over these next few weeks. Experts have shared that students need to feel a sense of closure for this school year so they can better adjust to the start of the next school year. This is especially true for our age group. Therefore, our staff is working to prepare fun closure activities for the students to do so. Seeing each other will play a vital role in this process.
Below are updates:
If you borrowed a DiPietro Chromebook or iPad: Please see the details below for returning the items. It is imperative that they are returned so the IT department can prepare them for the 2020-2021 school year.
June 16: On this day, from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm; please come to the school to retrieve your child's belongings. We will be giving you not only what was in the classroom, but also artwork. PLEASE RETURN book bags, teacher belongings, and library books. If you feel comfortable, please bring your DiPietro child so the staff that is there to give out belongings can provide some closure to the year by saying hi to your child and wishing them a great summer.
3rd Grade Families: Please be on the lookout for an email from Mrs. Friedman outlining our 3rd Grade Memory Celebrations for June 12th, (10:00 - 11:00 am) with a rain date of June 16th.
Step-Up Day for Grade 3: Mr. Cutler and his team are working on the details. I will share information once they are done.
Step-Up Day for Grades K - 2: Traditionally we have Step-Up Day the last week of school and students visit the classroom of their teacher(s) for the following year. As we all know, it is not possible this year. Therefore we will be doing it a little differently. On June 18th, you will have access to your child's report card. Your child's teacher for the 2020-2021 will be shared towards the end of the teacher's comments. That same day, I will be sharing a website, in an email, for you to then visit. There you will find a link where you can learn more about your teacher. Teachers are sharing a little bit about their classrooms and themselves with you through the website.
Mrs. Cavossa's Story-Time Plan Going Forward: For the rest of the school year, Mrs. Cavossa will be continuing to read at 7:30 pm on FaceBook Live Monday - Friday. She will no longer be reading on Saturday and Sunday. As we enter the summer, Mrs. Cavossa will not be reading on certain days, but will jump on Facebook once in a while to surprise us. She will be using these days in the best way possible....spending time relaxing and with her family.
Title 1 Survey: If you have not done so already, please complete this Title 1 Survey ASAP. We need this to be completed in order to maintain our funding as well as to make improvements to our program based on what you share with us.
I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.
Your principal,
Miriam Friedman
