Word From The Woods

Bishop Woods School Newsletter - 5.30.21

Greetings Bishop Woods Families,

This Monday we will have no school in observance of Memorial Day. Please take a moment to remember all of the men and women that have died serving our country, and to share any of your own personal stories of friends and family who have served with your children.

When we return to school on Tuesday, we will be entering the month of June! There are only 9.5 days left for in person learning, and 12.5 total days remaining for the year. Please note that our 8th grade promotion ceremony will take place on Wednesday, June 16th and the last day for students in grades K-7 is Thursday, June 17th (which will also be an early dismissal).

8th grade parents...please be sure to check your email regularly over the next few weeks for important updates. An email was sent out on Friday that is important for you to view.

This Tuesday morning, our K-6 students will be experiencing Junior Achievement Day from 9:30-11am. Volunteers from RSM will be working with students virtually to help them understand the world around them, with a focus on financial literacy. We are excited for our students to take part in this event!

Although some mask restrictions have been lifted in CT, please note that all students and staff at New Haven Public Schools must continue to wear masks at school each day.

Looking forward to a wonderful week ahead,

Mrs. Natalino

Free Weekly Covid Testing

Our school has been selected to participate in the Increasing Community Access to Testing (ICATT) program. ICATT is providing screening testing coverage for teachers, staff, and students in communities to expand testing in schools. ICATT expands testing operations in schools to reduce COVID-19 disease spread, ensure that schools are safe environments for learning, and help schools stay open. Additional information on ICATT, can be found here: https://www.openandsafeschools.org/about

What is the COVID-19 testing program?

  • Participating students/staff will be tested for COVID-19 once a week by the ICATT staff
  • The test is performed at your school.
  • The COVID-19 test is quick, easy and it does not hurt. (A nasal test gently swabs the lower inner nostril, and lab results are sent within 24 hours.)
  • The test is free. You do not need to pay for the test or have insurance to get the test.
  • The program is optional, but we hope you will participate to help us stop the spread of COVID-19.

To participate in the testing program, you need to sign a consent form for your child. You only need to sign up once for the weekly testing. Information will only be shared with the Department of Public Health and other departments if a student/staff tests positive in an individual test.

If you are interested in signing your child up for this VOLUNTARY program, please fill out consent form at the following link:
