A Motherboard is the main printed circuit board in an eletronic device, particularly a computer, which may contain sockets that accept additional boards (eg. daughter-boards).

in a personal computer, the motherboard contains the bus, the microprocessor, and integrated circuits used for controlling any built-in periherals such as the keyboard, text and graphics display, serial ports and parrallel pots, joysticks and mouse interfaces. The shape and layout of a motherboard is called the form factor.

the motherboards main job is to hold the computers microprcessor chip and let everything else connect to it. Everything that runs the computer is either part of the motherboard or plugs into it via a slot or port
