The Temple of Artemis
The Temple of Artemis was built in 323 B.C. in Ephesus by Chersiphron and his son. It was destroyed in 262 B.C by Goths. Its purpose was a Temple to worship the goddess Artemis. Artemis was an important Greek deity. It was the largest in a series of temples of Artemis. The Temple of Artemis had 127 columns, was built mostly of marble, and housed a large statue built for Artemis in the temple.
