HAPPY NEW YEAR !

Happy 2022! I hope that each of you was able to enjoy some time with your family and friends during the holiday season. It's always nice to have a break, but it is especially wonderful to have the children back in the building and to hear their excitement of time spent with you!

I'd like to give a shout-out to our students for their hard work this week while taking NWEA testing. NWEA data is used to guide our instruction, help teachers target individual areas of concern, and capitalize on student strengths. Teachers and administrators continue to review the data to improve instruction and analyze our programs. Great work, Elementary Jets!

STATE TESTING INFORMATION... MARK YOUR CALENDARS!

This semester will include State Testing such WIDA, I AM, IREAD-3, and ILEARN. It is essential that students are present during these testing windows.

I AM and WIDA testing have longer testing windows and students are pulled mainly on an individual basis. If your child is to take I AM or WIDA testing, you will already have been made aware of this during discussions with the classroom teacher.

Grade level testing takes place for IREAD-3 and ILEARN each spring.

IREAD-3 will take place on March 15 and 16 with practice testing testing taking place prior. Parents can read more about the IREAD-3 test here.

More specific information about ILEARN (grades 3-5) will be coming next month, however, the tentative testing dates are

  1. Practice Tests April 4-7
  2. Math April 20-21
  3. ELA April 25, 27, 28
  4. Science/SS May 4-5

DYSLEXIA SCREENERS

Indiana schools are required to administer Dyslexia screeners to students in grades k-2. These students took the universal screener and students identified through the screener will be given a Level 1 screener this month. Please keep in mind that the school cannot diagnose any medical condition. The screener is used to identify students that may have areas of concern. Letters will be sent home with these students upon completion of the testing.

More information is available on the AC website. https://www.accs.k12.in.us/page/district-information

WINTER WEATHER UPDATES

As the weather turns cold, please be sure to equip your children with hats, gloves, and a winter coat. It is important to put your child's name on each item. If you are in need of support with these items, please let us know and we can connect you with resources.

LOST AND FOUND ITEMS

The Lost and Found cabinet is overflowing. Please have your child check the cabinet (located near the cafeteria) by the end of next week. Items remaining will be donated.
