October 2015 Newsletter

From the Principal's Desk

I enjoyed seeing so many of you at our back to school night and other opening events. I feel so fortunate to be able to partner so closely with families to make students' experience at school a positive one.

September went by in a flash and classrooms are settling in to their routines now that we've finished our benchmark assessments and start-up activities. This month kicks off many of our extra-curricular activities. Our various clubs as well as band, chorus and orchestra will be in full swing by the third week. We have our first school wide event with Family Game night on October 9 and our Walkathon on October 16.

Thank you for all of your participation and support at Audubon!

Counselor News

September was an exciting month with coming back to school. Students are learning about a new word… FLEXIBLE. They are learning about using flexible thinking by being able to change or try something differently. By being a flexible thinker, students can keep a positive attitude when plans or expectations change. During September, teachers were looking for students who were flexible with making new friends in a new class. Students who were role models for their classes include: Gabe Bianco, Vanessa Hutchinson, Michael Henning, Arhan Goyal, Kadence Baird, Liam Baker, Rowyn Lutz, Harley Bennet, Mahek Saikia, Phalith Moza, Jaylynn Kandy, Sabeeh Raza, Griffin King, Paige Fisher, Micah Abraham, Katelyn Ryan, Luca Cifelli, Elliana Polinski, Avyukt Sharma, Olivia Proietto, Warren Simard, Alexandra DePiano, Walter Boone, Darius Outen, Katie Rozinski, Alexandra Dubai, Theo Baker, Colin Hennessy, Olivia Withers, William Schafer, Lauren Montgomery, Aiden Keller, Will Smeyne, Mia Wagner.

In October teachers will look for students who have persistence in trying things a new way instead of giving up.

A Note About Notes:

When sending in money for your child’s lunch account, please label the envelope with first and last name and student’s homeroom. We want to be sure to credit the correct student’s account.

Students need a note whenever staying after school for an activity or when they go to parent pick up. When sending in this type of note be sure to include first and last name, the student’s homeroom and the date.

October 30 Fall Festival- Parade at 10 AM

On October 30 at 10 AM sharp we will begin our parade. Weather permitting, students will parade through the school grounds for parents and friends to see. Once the parade is about to begin we will block the entrance to the parking lot. Please help to keep our children safe by following directions of staff to park elsewhere. Chadwick's has offered their parking lot to us during the event. Feel free to take advantage of this additional space. In the event of inclement weather, family and friends are welcome to join us in the gym to view the indoor parade.
