VANWAGNEN NEWS
Thank you so much to the many families who were able to participate in our Halloween celebrations on Thursday. We appreciate you taking the time to enjoy this day with all of us.
Trunk or Treat was also a wonderful family event, and a tremendous success. It was enjoyable to see so many families attend. We appreciate all of our local businesses, school organizations and community members who sponsored a trunk.
We also appreciate our local businesses for all their support and willingness to partner with our school's parade through town each year for Halloween. This year we were sorry that our parade was cancelled due to the rainy weather. The businesses in Brooklyn are such important members of our school community. We appreciate them greatly!
VETERAN'S DAY
Columbia School District is proudly sponsoring a Veteran’s Day assembly on Monday, November 11th at 9:30 am. Students from both elementary schools will be transported by bus to the CCHS at 9:00 am. We would like to have as many Veterans as possible to attend this event to honor them and to teach our students about the importance of recognizing service to our country.
All Veterans should arrive at Columbia Central High School at 9:00 am for a light breakfast reception. The assembly will include special music, a guest speaker, reading of the Veterans’ names and will last approximately one hour.
If at all possible, please wear uniforms or other service/patriotic clothing.
If you have any questions, please contact the school office.
THANK YOU VETERANS
Our Veterans Day assembly will be a memorable event. We are honored to welcome over 90 guests who have served our country. It is always a privilege to share this day with our local Veterans and their families. We are fortunate to have members of the armed forces among our CUES staff. Thank you to Mr. Nathan Williams, Senior Airman for your contributions to our country.
Thank you to all veterans for serving our country and protecting our freedoms.
On Veterans Day we honor all,
Who answered to a service call.
Soldiers young, and soldiers old,
Fought for freedom, brave and bold.
Some have lived, while others died,
And all of them deserve our pride.
We're proud of all the soldiers who,
Kept thinking of red, white and blue.
They fought for us and all our rights,
They fought through many days and nights.
And though we may not know each name,
We thank ALL veterans just the same.
