Welcome to Grade 3
Mme Inions
I'm so excited to meet you!
2015 -2016 school year! I am very excited about having your child in my class for the next year. The students are settling into classroom routines well and we have had a great first week together.
As a class, we have discussed our classroom rules. We have agreed that the following expectations will lead to a great year with many fun activities in an excellent learning environment.
1. Always try YOUR best
2. Respect yourself and others
3. Make good choices
4. Have FUN
This month, we will be focusing on our mental math facts all while working in our math journals and practicing our patterning skills.
In science, we will have a lot of fun learning about animal life cycles . We also have a wonderful opportunity to use Chromebooks to assist us in our learning and present our new knowledge through the use of technology.
In English Language Arts, we will be working on vowel sounds, as well as beginning to work on word families. Also, we have begun a novel study of Liar, Liar, Pants on Fiar! by Gordon Korman. The students are really enjoying this read! This novel allows so many great opportunities for us to look at rich literature filled with great words while learning about essential grammar tricks such as –ing endings as well as present and past verb tenses.
Social Studies is a great part of the Grade 3 curriculum. The students will learn about Tunisia, India, Peru and Ukraine. I look forward to helping the children discover more about government, quality of life as well as climate and the natural resources that are present in each country.
Throughout the year, we will be working on developing our reading and writing skills. September’s unit of study will be focused on Food. This unit will offer many fun opportunities to work with food, sample different treats and write about our experiences.
I am positive we will have a wonderful year together!

Parent Contact Week
Throughout the week of September 21st, you will have the opportunity to come into the classroom or receive a phone call home to check in regarding your child's Grade 3 school year. This will give me and the parents to discuss any comments, questions or concerns regarding your child and their first few weeks in Grade 3.
