Principal's Message
Happy 2022!
I hope all of of Gator families enjoyed the winter break and the recent snow. As we enter the new year, I would like to say thank you for your continued support and partnership.
I know that bus riders have had multiple second loads to navigate this year and am happy to report that at this time we have no daily 2nd loads! We will continue to share bus loading times in case we have buses that arrive later than expected. Please continue to use this link to check on times leaving Enon each day.
Thank you to all of our parent volunteers who assisted with our classroom parties and also with our PTO Santa Shop in December! I've included some pictures below. We also truly appreciate all of our families who helped provide special treats for our students to celebrate. This month on January 14th, we have a teacher work day for our 2nd quarter report cards which will go home in early February. January 17th is a staff and student holiday in honor of Dr. King's birthday.
As we navigate year 3 of the pandemic, I am sure the recent development of the Omicron variant is on everyone's mind. We are continuing with our health protocols at Enon such as masks and seating our students three ft. or more apart when possible in the classroom setting. We also continue to have one grade level eat lunch at a time in the cafeteria, using partions to separate students who sit across from each other at tables.
With our current enrollment, our current spacing at lunch is generally three ft. apart due to available seating. However, since masks are not worn while eating, this does create some close contact situations due to space available. Bus riders are also considered close contacts if they are less than 3 ft. for 15 minutes or more (over 24 hours). Students who are seated near a child who tested positive will be asked to quarantine. If your child needs to quarantine, your teacher will contact you regarding classwork.
We continue to utilize seating charts in all settings so we are aware of who is seated nearby. We also continue to have a well clinic and a symptom clinic to separate students who exhibit symptoms. We also want to stress that it is very important that you do not send your student to school if they are ill.
Please be sure you have also reviewed the CCPS information sent on Saturday, Jan. 1st regarding COVID protocols and quarantines. Here is an excerpt from the email below:
Students and staff should complete the daily health assessment every morning before going to school. Do not return to school if you are experiencing COVID-19 symptoms. Student health assessment in English and Spanish Please note the Virginia Public Health Order in regard to mask requirements remains in effect until the order is amended or rescinded. Additional guidance for educational settings is expected in the coming weeks that could bring more updates. We will continue to adapt as we receive new guidance.
- Chesterfield Schools will continue to follow a 10-day isolation period for students who test positive for COVID-19. While the CDC has suggested a five-day isolation period followed by five days of strict mask use for positive COVID-19 cases, the additional mitigation strategies in the CDC recommendation required, such as maintaining social distance during days 6-10, are not feasible for students in an educational setting.
As always, please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
