News and Notes from Clever 6-8 Middle School

A Message from the Principal!

Happy December Clever Families! Hard to believe that we are so close to the end of 1st semester already. Students and teachers have been working hard in preparation for the end of the quarter which is December 20th. Just a reminder all student reports cards won't be sent out until we return in January.

Students will be taking their Winter benchmark NWEA assessments the week for December 16th. These results will help guide instruction during 2nd semester. Please help us in encouraging the importance of these assessments.

Be sure to check the list of events below to make sure you don't miss something. It is going to be a busy month!

Last year this drive raised over several thousand pounds of food. Let's try to beat our total from last year.

Attendance Spotlight

Our 6th graders continue to hold strong with their attendance. They beat out the 8th graders just barely to have the highest overall attendance for the month of November. This makes them winners 4 months in a row.

Fine Arts Focus

Brady Donaldson, Jason Williams, and Joselyn Perez attended all district band competition. Joselyn took 1st chair trumpet in the 8th grade band and had a solo! Jason took 2nd chair 7th grade trumpet and Brady took 2nd chair 7th grade baritone. All three students got awesome chair placements, beating out students from much larger schools! They did a great job representing Clever that day!

Athletics Spotlight

Winter sports are in full swing. The girls basketball team has been busy playing in several tournaments the past few weekends. The A-Team currently stands at an 8-3 record while the B-Team is 5-5. They have several games left and will wrap up their season on Friday the 13th in Stockton. Good luck the rest of the season!

The 7th & 8th grade boys basketball team has been selected and practices are underway. They will open up their season in Skyline on Monday, December 16th. They are looking forward to a fun and exciting season. Come out and cheer on our student athletes.

Club Highlights

Coach Bodenstein and his Air Rifle Club were busy during the month of November. They participated in numerous local competitions and hosted Clever's first SAR meet. The have taken 1st place in almost all of the meets with many of the competitors finishing in the top 10. They will cap their season off competing in the SAR State Meet on Saturday, December 7th in Crane. Good Luck to Coach B and his team!
