Woodbury Junior-Senior High School - Weekly Newsletter
Friday, January 15, 2021
Message from the Principal:
Woodbury Junior-Senior High School is set to resume hybrid instruction on Tuesday, January 19. The 2nd marking period is scheduled to end a short while after on Thursday, January 28. As we approach the 2nd half of the year, we are exploring the feasibility of adjusting our schedule to provide more in-person learning, while maintaining safe, socially-distanced classrooms. We are investigating collapsing Cohorts A & B into Cohort C. This would allow some students to go to school in-person four days per week (M-T & R-F).
To help us determine if this goal is feasible, we need to hear from parents as to which Cohort you would like your child to attend. Please navigate to this link to complete this brief survey. All parents should respond whether you wish to change cohorts or not:
We really need every family to complete this survey. Please take one minute to do so now!
Congratulations go out to all of our Students of the Month! You can see who won for Junior High, High School and AVID below. Their hard work and dedication is a testament to their conscientious nature. Kudos to them and their families!!
In partnership,
Dr. Vivadelli

When I opened my acceptance letter from Stanford University, I was overjoyed and honestly completely surprised. I am so thankful for my teachers, advisors, and family that have had confidence in me and helped me get to where I am! I really cannot wait to continue my journey at Stanford and show the world what Woodbury kids are made of.

Current Events in Mrs. Berting's Science Class
Once per marking period 7th grade Science students spend a week reading about current developments in all areas of Science. Students are directed to 6 student-centered websites that contain a vast array of interesting topics. This week students have read articles about such topics as the most recent COVID-19 variants, the latest eruption of Mt. Kilauea in Hawaii, NASA's newest rocket....the most powerful ever built, and a WWII era encryption machine that was found on the ocean floor. After skimming at least 3 articles students select one on which to focus. The study of Science isn't only about what we already know...it's really about what we don't know!!
One specific article that many students selected was titled "Lonely Brains Crave People Like Hungry Brains Crave Food". The article highlights brain responses to being isolated and then seeing people again. Moving forward I will use this as a discussion jumping off point to help students understand how the brain is working for their health...even during a pandemic!!
