Greetings CES Families & Friends,
We are on the home stretch. We only have 1 more week of this distance learning. Thanks for all the support you have been providing your child. We know it's not easy, and we are grateful the role you've played in helping to educate your child these past three months.
Chrome book collections. We have to collect all chrome books June 1 and 2. Many of these machines are on lease, and others need to be serviced. We will have a special celebration and collection time for each grade level, complete with ice cream for students and a picture with your child's teacher. We hope everyone can come at their designated times, but if not, please visit us at CES during another grade level's designated time, or contact me to set up another time (areeder@pcoe.k12.ca.us ). Thanks!
Monday, June 1st: Kindergarten 9:00, 1st grade 10:00, 2nd grade 11:00
Tuesday, June 2nd: 3rd grade 9:00, 4th grade 10:00, 5th grade 11:00
Again, we hope to see everyone at their designated times so they can take a picture with their teacher and get some ice cream!
Shout out to our 6th graders! This is a great group of students we will surely miss at CES! We are saddened about the many missed opportunities, and are working to provide some special recognition to our 6th graders through a small, family event in June. 6th grade families - if you did not get the update last Monday please let me know (areeder@pcoe.k12.ca.us). Thanks!
Incoming Kindergartener (K) or Transitional Kindergartener (TK)? Welcome to CES! Please see notes & flyer below, and let us also know with an email (npeterson@pcoe.k12.ca.us). We are excited to welcome our new Volcanoes! Please click the "TK/K Registration" link below. The following age requirements apply for TK & K:
a. K eligible: a child is 5 years old by September 1, 2020
b. TK eligible: a child will turn 5 years old between September 2, 2020-December 2, 2020
c. TK consideration: a child will turn 5 years old between December 3, 2020-March 30, 2021 - Please contact CES if this circumstance applies to your child.
CES families. Please spread the word about Transition Kindergarten and Kindergarten with any potentially applicable families. Without our K Round Up, we fear we're not getting the word out effectively. Thanks!
Please welcome new principal Ms. Colly Fischer. Ms. Fischer is much younger, smarter and definitely a lot prettier than this old guy! ;) CES students, staff and parents will be in great hands and I’m excited for all of you!
Meals! Our kitchen crew are working on providing meals to anyone up to 18 years old (any school - not just CES or CJHS). These meals can be picked up at the kitchen west door from 7:30-10:00 Monday-Friday. Meals are also being distributed via revised bus routes.
But what about next school year? Our district leaders are doing a great job navigating through these many challenges and daily changes. They are collaborating with other school districts, the state of California, local and state health officials and county leaders to identify a safe and productive education plan for next year. They have identified 4 progressive committees to help develop a safe and successful plan that will involve flexibility, distance learning and in person learning for the 2020-2021 school year. Although the CDC's guidelines for opening school looks extremely limiting, we will work through these guidelines, use updated information and the stakeholders' expertise listed above to develop a solid plan. I encourage you to check out the document below entitled "Plumas Advisory Committee Planning" which will provide a lot of information. Keep in mind, updates are being provided to district leaders daily, so this document will continue to evolve. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through this process with students' safety and an exceptional educational experience being our priority. Thanks.
In closing, we appreciate your ongoing support and teaming with us to make the most of these difficult circumstances. Please let us know if you have any questions or concerns. Thanks!
Outstanding group of young men & women! They will be missed!
