Sherman ISD Recruits Principals for A Day
Sherman ISD invited 12 community partners, leaders, and business owners, to participate in the Sherman ISD Principal for a Day Partners in Education program. The annual event is designed to increase awareness and understanding of the educational services and programs offered in Sherman ISD. The day also provides participants with a glimpse of what it takes to be a campus principal. The visitors spent their morning visiting classrooms, reading to students, and shadowing the campus principals to learn the day to day tasks of the campus leaders.
Lowe’s ProServices Specialist Mitch Maire said he enjoyed his morning at Neblett Elementary and learned a lot in just a short time.
“My overall takeaway from this experience is that these children are loved in our schools,” Maire expressed. “They are cared for, there is a concern for them, and the principals and the instructors know them personally. From a broad spectrum, we are serving our community here in Sherman with probably the best that I’ve seen in education.”
The Principal for a Day program encourages participants to be hands-on throughout the day while connecting with students and teachers. Renee Scally, Sales Manager at Schulman’s Movie Bowl and Grille, did just that as she served as Principal for A Day at her alma mater, Crutchfield Elementary.
“I spent the day with a lot of great kids and great instructors and I learned so much about Sherman ISD and the different programs the district offers,” Scally explained. “Today was a great day to be a Bearcat. I am a proud alumnus of Sherman and I saw so many acts of kindness and so many teachers promoting respect. I saw growth and my heart is full after being at Crutchfield today.”

Next, start designing what you need! Here are some tips to get you started on designing a custom background template:
1. Google Slides is a great application to use to design custom backgrounds.
2. Change the page setup to “Custom”
3. Select “Pixels” and set the values to 1920 x 1080.
4. Click “Apply”.
5. Start designing!
6. When finished designing, click on the slide you would like to save as a background.
7. Click “File”
8. Click “Download”
9. Click “JPEG image”
You will be able to access the downloaded JPEG in your Downloads folder. Save that file to a USB and then take the USB to your panel and install the custom background in your note application. If you would like to watch a video tutorial, click here.
*In the photo above, Mrs. Davis’ first graders are pictured using the “Fact Family Houses” custom background. It has been the perfect addition to their math center rotations.
