What is Feng Shui
The ancient Chinese practice of Feng Shui is both an art and a science that is dedicated to balancing the energy of a specific space in order to promote the health and well-being of the people who inhabit that space. Feng means wind and Shui can be translated as water, both of which are associated with good health. Therefore naturally good Feng Shui practice leads to good health, happiness and good fortune while bad Fen Shui can lead to ill fortune.

Feng Shui follows Taoist principles which state that the land is filled with energy called Chi. Chinese belief has it that the land's energy would affect the kingdom fared.Feng Shui is based on five elements as well as incorporating the theory of balance between Yin and Yang.
There are two main tools that the Feng Shui practitioner uses in order to achieve a balance of the energies in a specific area. These are the compass and the Bagua. The Bagua is an octagonal segmented grid which contains elements of the I Ching. This tool assists the Feng Shui practitioner is ascertaining the relationship between certain element of the home and the personal life of the homeowner.
The compass, known as the Luo-Pan is used to learn more about a particular site or a building. In appearance it is a set of concentric rings with a magnetic type compass in the middle.
Feng Shui uses a number of objects in a certain layout in order to affect ones fortunes. For instance an aquarium can attract prosperity, crystals and fountains can also be used. There are also implications in the use of various colors. Clocks are also used in an effort to balance the energies of a home.
