Please sign and complete your child’s home reading calendar for the month of September and return it to school Monday, October 2nd.
We have been practicing our math facts at school and will be sending those home soon. Students have learned how to use their triangular facts for both adding and subtracting. Please try to practice facts with your child at least 3 times per week. There will be a spot to sign and date for each time you practice together.
Enjoy the warm and colorful weekend!

We are trying a new fundraiser this year! For 2 weeks Goodhue Elementary is raising money for our field trips, assemblies, etc. Emails and info have been sent home. Please let me know if you have any questions.
Thank you to all who have been able to contribute $5.00 to help with the cost of class parties for the year!
Great job for those who have been reading and recording their home minutes on their reading calendars! Your child should be reading 30 minutes each night. (We will be counting those towards “steps” at school. 30 minutes equals 2 steps).
Poetry folders will be coming home. Please have your child practice reading the 2 poems to you, add your parent signature, and return the poetry folders on Monday. At school we practiced reading poems by adding expression and voice changes.
Based on your child’s spelling inventory results we have leveled them into “best fit” spelling lists. This may change as we monitor their spelling progress. Each Monday they will bring home their list. It would be great if they could keep them on the “Return to School” side of their folders. This way they can access them for practice at both home & school. Please have them practice writing their words at least 3x per week. Remember, this may be counted in their reading minute time. They can copy the words, take a test, give you a test & then correct it, write using markers, etc. Anything to make learning words fun!

It has been a busy week learning new routines and procedures!
We are collecting $5.00 to help with the cost of class parties for the year. Please contribute when you are able.
We have been practicing reading stamina at school. We will spend some time practicing reading strategies here at school and determining your child’s good fit color level. A reading calendar for keeping track of your child’s reading minutes will come home Monday.
Fastbridge testing will take place next week. Our class will take their online reading and math tests on Tuesday. These assessments give us a baseline snapshot of what your child already knows about concepts as we begin the school year.
*Summer Reading slips are due Friday.
We’re off to a great start!
