SIXTH FORM

FROM THE HEADS OF SIXTH FORM

Dear Parents,

This week the Sixth Form have been preparing for their practice exams which begin on Monday. In readiness for these, this week the students have had an assembly on anxiety and stress, have been given a guide to help them with the management of anxiety, and our counsellor, Rachael Williams, also came in to give a workshop on reducing pre-exam worries. We know that the students will be well prepared for these exams which will form the basis of their reports in January, and this is their chance to shine and show how well they are doing in their subjects.

Best wishes

Friday 9 December - Christmas Lunch and Christmas Jumper day

Next Friday is Christmas Lunch for Sixth Form and it is also Christmas jumper day. Students will pay £1 for the privilege of wearing a Christmas jumper. All proceeds to charity. We do hope students will join in the festivities.

Sixth Form lanyards

All Sixth Form students are required to bring in and wear their lanyards at all times. Some Sixth Form students are still forgetting to bring in their lanyards. Please could we ask for your help in reminding students to ensure they have them every morning. A charge will be made for any lost lanyards or photocards. Thank you.

Copas Turkey Offer

Order online using code ‘CCS16’ to earn the School PTA £5. Anyone collecting their turkeys that they ordered on this offer will be able to go and say hello to a couple of Santa’s helpers and have their picture taken too. As well as meeting the reindeer there will be many other treats including wine tasting, cooking and carving demonstrations, a choir and Father Christmas himself.

Charity News - FoodShare

Kamini and Vicky were surprise visitors to FoodShare at the weekend. They are both regular volunteers and met up there with Mrs Burdett and Mrs Rogers. As you can see they soon got stuck in to the cleaning required. It's not all about keeping the shelves well stocked.

As we get closer to Christmas and the cold weather takes its toll, FoodShare are even more grateful for your contributions. Please can you send your food donations into school next week so someone's life can be made a little easier. We will be collecting food items from Monday in the Sixth Form area. We have urgent requirements for tinned fruit, baked beans, tinned spaghetti, bags of sugar and rice, and pasta sauces. Thank you.

Visit from Marc Jones from Turbervilles Solicitors

Marc Jones, Partner from local firm Turbervilles Solicitors, came to talk to the Year 12 students who are interested in a career in law. He gave a very clear picture of what it is like to work in the legal profession and the possible routes to take to get there. As an ex-engineer, this was very insightful for the students. We are very fortunate to have so many professional people willing to come into school to share their career experiences with the Sixth Form.
