Police boost security forces in Bantayan Island, a Lenten destination

CEBU CITY, March 21 (PIA) -- Police in Cebu province will augment security forces in Bantayan Island, a well known Lenten destination in Cebu.


P/Supt. Glenn Ares, deputy director of the Cebu Provincial Police Office, said during the Talakayan sa Isyung Pulis (TSIP) forum that they are beefing up security in the island in view of the expected influx of visitors for the Holy Week period. READ MORE

Officers from the Philippine Mental Health Association (PMHA) Cebu Chapter in a recent Kapihan forum here shared tips on how parents and teachers can deal with cyberbullies and their victims in schools.


Bullies focus their attack on the reputation, appearance, and opinion of victims, said Dr. Glenda Basubas, PMHA Cebu Chapter chairperson.


The bullies either spread images that have been Photoshopped, are rumor mongering, and spreading private videos primarily through social media platforms such as Facebook, Twitter, and blogs, and cellphones. READ MORE

Cebu LGU recipient of medical, educational facilities

CEBU CITY, March 13 (PIA) --- The Lapu-Lapu city government was the recipient of sets of hospital and educational facilities from the Aboitiz Foundation, Inc.


Lapu-Lapu received 17 hospital beds, 17 bassinets, and 13 ceiling fans which have been installed in the newly-refurbished Pedia and OB-Gyne wards.

Cebu Port authorities all set for Lenten Season passenger influx

CEBU CITY, March 20 (PIA) -- Cebu port authorities are ready for the volume of passengers expected this Lenten Season.


In Tuesday morning's Kapihan sa Pantalan, Cebu port authorities formally launched their security preparations dubbed “Oplan Ligtas Byahe: Kwaresma 2013."


Director Oscar Lopez, Port Safety and Environment Management Department Manager of the Cebu Port Authority (CPA), said they have already coordinated with other authorities involved in the operations and safety of the port areas all over Cebu for next week’s influx of passengers. READ MORE


Filipino women admired by Asia Pacific counterparts

CEBU CITY, March 15 (PIA) -- Women in the Philippines admired by counterparts in the Asia Pacific.


This was reiterated yesterday during a session of the 27th Confederation of the Asia Pacific Chambers of Commerce and Industry (CACCI) entitled Women Entrepreneurship.


CACCI-Women Entrepreneurial Council former president Mukta Nandini Jain, told the participants that women in the Philippines are being look up to by the rest of the Asian counterparts. READ MORE
