Summer Leadership Opportunity!

Connect and grow with amazing Asian students!

American Language and Culture (ALC) Program Coordinator Position

The American Language & Culture (ALC) Program has been hosted on the Stanford University campus for over 40 years. This program brings together university students from across Asia for an intensive 4-week English course and an immersive introduction to American culture through the lens of innovation and social impact in Silicon Valley.

Program Dates:

July 24th - September 2nd, 2017

Coordinator Role

Every summer, we invite 10-12 Stanford students to join the program as peer mentors and cultural guides for the ALC participants. The ALC Student Coordinators play a critical role in supporting participants through peer mentorship, community-building, and fostering cross-cultural understanding.

As a coordinator you will experience an enriching summer full of adventure where you can:

  • deepen cross-cultural communication skills
  • develop leadership skills
  • create life-long friendships

Compensation

Program expenses (including dormitory housing, dining hall meals, and up to $80 in activity costs) are covered for coordinators during the program.

After the program, you have two options:

  1. Receive $1200 to travel to Asia to reunite with your new friends, or
  2. Join a 10-day, VIA-funded travel study program to Japan to learn how communities and social entrepreneurs are creatively addressing challenges in Japanese society, like disaster recovery and depopulation.
