Dear Parents and Carers,

This week has definitely seen the return of winter and it has been much colder everywhere. Thankfully, we have now received our CO2 monitors from the DfE which means we can regulate the ventilation in the classrooms to ensure we have the right mix of fresh air and warmth. We do still spend a lot of time outside though so please ensure that your child has a warm coat with them each day.

Also this week two classes have been out and about in the village. On Tuesday Tigers headed off to the Methodist chapel to see their wonderful watercolour pictures of poppies on display. They enjoyed picking out their own pictures and seeing them displayed in a public place. In the afternoon, Jaguars visited St. Mary's to help the parishioners plant bulbs ready for the spring. They worked well using small tools on hard ground as part of their Young Leaders Award to serve others in their community. It will be lovely to go back in the spring to see the flowers in bloom.

Thank you to everyone who donated cakes for the cake sale this week and also to those who bought the cakes. We are hoping to buy some more books for our library in order to have books that are more current.

As Christmas draws nearer Mrs Fitzpatrick and Mrs Cameron are sending a letter detailing our Christmas performances and activities. Sadly, with high numbers of covid cases in the local area we have been advised that we cannot have a live audience other than children already in school so we will record performances and send out a link for you to be able to view them. It is a real shame but we do have to follow the health and safety advice we are given. Hopefully we will be able to have parents back in school soon.

Have a lovely weekend,

Mrs Karen Williams

Message from the Head Boy and Head Girl

This week, we were really excited as we had a cake sale to raise money for books for the library. Thank you for all of the donations and thank you to the Reading Ambassadors for their hard work. On the playground we have noticed lots of people helping out their friends. Well done Kirk Fenton.

Every week we award a certificate to someone who we have noticed are going above and beyond in following our school rules of being ready, respectful and safe.

Head boy certificate - Tom (Jaguars) for being so kind to the younger children at playtime.

Head girl certificate - Laurence (Sharks) for being such a great friend to all of his class by finding solutions to problems that have arisen during football at playtime.

Digital Leaders

A big thank you to all those who applied for the role of Digital Leaders this year. I was overwhelmed by the number of applications I received and it made deciding very hard. After much deliberation, I can now announce our new Digital Leaders Team. These are: Seely, Isla B and Ralfie W from Sharks; Patrick, Freddie and Evie W from Earthworms; Tom M, Dexter and Lillie J from Jaguars; and Elliot and Daisy from Wolves. Every application received was incredibly well thought out and I thank everyone for putting in the effort. Unfortunately, I couldn't pick everyone! The new team will be responsible for assisting teachers in computing, helping test new equipment, coming up with ways to make computing better in the school, and helping their peers in computing learning. I know they will be excellent at their new roles. Mr Symes

Times Tables Rock Stars

This week saw the first session Numbots and TTRockstars club. We were blown away with the enthusiasm! The club allowed children to play and practise their maths skills on both Numbots and TTrockstars. There was also a Children vs Mr Symes competition (better luck next week, children!). Our winners of a certificate this week are: Liam H from Wolves, Tom M from Jaguars, Nancy C from Earthworms, and Oliver G from Sharks.

Well done to all our winners and we look forward to seeing who will have a certificate next week!

Numbots

Well done to those of you in KS1 that have been working hard on Numbots. We can see that less children have been on this week so make sure you are practising at home, it will help you so much in class! Just 5 or 10 minutes each day is ideal. Special congratulations to those who have spent lots of time working hard at home. Certificates this week go to Toby M, Sophie P, Bertie M and James D. Well done!

Reading Ambassador Cake Sale

A huge, huge thank you to our parents, carers and children for supporting our cake sale by both sending in cakes and donating so generously. The sale raised an amazing £310 which will be spent on new books for our library. Our Reading Ambassadors did a fantastic job of organising and manning the stall, and we now have the very exciting job of choosing which great new books to buy!

MENU CHANGE for w/c 28th November

For this week there will not be any paninis. Instead there will be a jacket potato option, with a topping of either cheese or beans.

LOST PROPERTY

Please have a look in the lost property box in the entrance of school if you are missing any items. Please ensure everything is named so things can be reunited with their rightful owner. Thank you

Staff Thank You's

If anyone would like to say thank you to or has any positive comments for a member of staff then please complete and submit the form below.

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we are unfortunately unable to host a Christmas Fair this year, we still want to encourage some festive fundraising fun and a bit of competition. You will soon be receiving (or may have already received) a Christmas Jumper Competition sheet for students to design their own Christmas Jumpers. Entries for the competition should be handed in to your child’s teachers no later than Friday the 10th December.

The prizes will be judged anonymously and a top prize (£25 Toy Shop gift voucher) awarded in each of the key stages and then individual prizes per class.

Prizes will be awarded on Friday 17th December.

Please encourage your child to create a design and submit with a small donation if you can. If people would like to do multiple entries then a donation per entry would be greatly received.

If you need further copies of the template please feel free to copy it or we will try to post a picture or link via Facebook for further copies to be printed so the whole family could have a go at designing their own.

We look forward to seeing everyone’s best festive creations!

Community Information

Cool Milk Christmas Card Competition

To get involved, just ask your children to put pen, glue, or glitter to paper! We always love to see their colourful Christmas creations that involve milk in some way, but this year we'd like them to show us Christmas card that summarises why they love their mid morning milk. And, most importantly, what makes them smile as we look to Christmas?

Remember, they can use any medium they like, as long as you include milk in a fun, festive way and use our entry form.

What's on offer?

1st prize: The winning design will be professionally printed as Cool Milk's official 2021 Christmas card. We'll send the winning pupil some copies of their own to share out amongst friends and family, and they'll earn a £50 Amazon gift card to spend on whatever they like.

Runners-up: Two runners up will receive a £25 Amazon voucher each.

To enter, download our entry form and let the children get creative, then send them directly to us. Unlike in other years, we're asking you to only send in entries via email.

Acceptable formats: You can send in entries by scanning each design as a COLOUR PDF or by taking a CLEAR PHOTOGRAPH, just remember to send it to marketing@coolmilk.com by Friday 3rd December. Remember, the winning design will be professionally printed, so entries that are not fully visible will sadly not be able to be considered.

Why not show off your crafty creations on social media as well? Simply tag us to share - we're on Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter as @coolmilkscheme.

Good luck and, most importantly, we hope you have fun!

From the Cool Milk team

By emailing in your entries or sharing with us on socials, you are confirming that you consent for them to be shared on Cool Milk's website and public platforms. For full terms and conditions click here.
