New Monday FLEX Enrichments

Students: beginning on Monday, March 13th you can choose your new Monday Enrichment FLEX. You will begin reporting to those Enrichments beginning on Monday, March 20th. Please pick wisely as you will remain in these Monday Enrichments for the remainder of the year. If you do not choose your own Monday Enrichment, one will be chosen for you, and no changes will be made!

Science Olympiad 2023

Congratulations to the 2023 Science Olympiad Team! We placed 6th out of 16 teams in the Wilmington Regional Competition Saturday, March 12th!


These are the medal winners:


2nd place - Flight (Ollie Breslerman and Logan Church)

2nd place - Bottle Rocket (Emily Bronish and Logan Church)

3rd place - Bridge (Kalliegh Moore and Miles Pearson)

5th place - Remote Sensing (Ollie Breslerman and Miles Pearson)

6th place - Cell Biology (Megan Rogers and Josie Smith)

6th place - Astronomy (Kalliegh Moore and Ollie Breslerman)

6th place - Dynamic Planet(Kalliegh Moore and CJ Branco)

BETA Club

Anyone that would like to apply for the BETA Club, may do so by clicking on the QR code and filling out the digital application. Students need 2 teacher recommendations, 3.5 GPA, and good behavior standing to apply.


Once accepted into the BETA club, 20 volunteer service hours are required per semester, maintain a minimum of a 3.5 GPA, and retaining good standing as far as behavior in school is required.


National Beta Club is the largest independent, non-profit, educational youth organization in America. And for more than 80 years, it has prepared today's students to be tomorrow's leaders. Beta's mission it to promote the ideals of academic achievement, character, service and leadership among elementary and secondary school students.

CTE News

On March 21st, Andy Blackburn from Johnstone Supply will be in the cafeteria during all three lunches to talk to students about his Jumpstart HVAC program. This is a 3 week course for graduating seniors that will allow them to begin a career in HVAC.

Don't worry.... If you missed cap and gown distribution on March 1st, Herff Jones will be on campus during all lunches on Monday, April 3rd. Be sure to pick up your cap and gown at that time.

The NHCS BOE Student Scholarships for Future Teachers

Deadline: March 31, 2023

The New Hanover County Board of Education believes that the future of quality education in New Hanover County lies in the hands of the future teachers of our students. The Board of Education Student Scholarships for future teachers will award four scholarship loans of $7,000, specifically, $3,500 per semester, each year to an accredited North Carolina community college, college, or university of the recipient’s choice, for a total amount up to $28,000 per scholarship.

CFCC Dual Enrollment

Applications for CFCC dual enrollment continue to be open. Visit https://sites.google.com/nhcs.net/dual-enrollment-with-cfcc/home to learn about the program and begin applying. Students can sign up in Student Services for application assistance on March 6th or 20th during Flex. The recommended deadline for submitting applications is March 31st so that new students can register for CFCC classes on April 17th.

Yearbook Staff Applications

Airborne Yearbook staff applications will be available starting March 1 through April 1. Students who are interested in being on the yearbook staff should apply. We need writers, photographers, designers, and business/marketing associates. We have a diverse student body, and we want a diverse staff to represent all students!
