Global Issues Summit Spirit Week
Each day students and staff will dress up, share their pictures, tag THS and GIS:
Hashtag: #gisspirit
Tag: Travis and @GSAGlobal Summit
At the end of the day we'll select the top few people and have users vote by liking on who they think did the best of the day.
We'll repeat this process Monday through Friday.
Friday we'll be giving away gift cards to the best dressed on the day and one $25 card to best of the week.
Our Global Issues Summit is Sat. April 25th from 10-12 on Zoom. We hope you choose to join us. Registration is now open up until the day of GIS. Once the attendee registers they will be sent emails via eventbrite with the Zoom link and explanation of the day. The day will feature a live keynote, option of interactive breakouts, GSA Student Capstone Presentations, and a panel of community leaders.

A Message from THS Librarian Mrs. Spina
We have many ebooks and audiobooks available through our library catalog. Most of these are single user access, meaning that they can only be read by one student at a time. This is particularly true for new titles. I'm working on a how to video that you can share with students. To access ebooks, students (and teachers 🙂) will log in to the catalog with their regular username and password.
This is the best option I've seen for having multiple students reading the same book, especially if you want access to new books. JLG will allow many students to access the same book. They have both ebooks and audiobooks. JLG focuses on new books and also adds new books each month. There are a variety of topics and reading levels covered and the books are specifically selected for children and teens. They also don't require any sign up or subscription. Student just click and read!
Here is info from the JLG website.
I've also attached a helpful how to video from the librarian at Dulles HS.
Scribd is an online ebook service that offers a 30 day free trial. This would require students to sign up, but does not require credit card information. There are many, many books and audiobooks available. This service would include adult content as well.
Preview the books available here.
Audible is also free for the time being. Audible is the audiobook platfrom from Amazon. These are exclusively audiobooks.
Most of you are probably already aware of Project Gutenberg. There are thousands of books available for free here. They are all books that are no longer under copyright in the US, so this would be a great place for your students to access classics.
