PHCS "Digital Days" Parent Update
Week Five - April 20th-24th, 2020
A NOTE FROM YOUR PRINCIPALS
Dear PHCS Families,
As you know, the Governor has ordered that all New York State schools will remain closed until May 15th. While we are sad to hear this news, we are pleased to know our students remain safe and healthy under your care. We appreciate all you are doing to support your child's health, well-being, and academics during this time! Please know we miss our students very much!
During these difficult times, our Backpack Committee would like to remind our families that the BACKPACK PROGRAM is available. The application is posted on our website and is linked here:
If you are temporarily in need of assistance with additional food items, hygiene products, and/or school supplies, please submit an application online. (Income guidelines have been temporarily suspended.)
The next BACKPACK PROGRAM delivery date is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, May 6th. (Please note this in addition to the Monday food deliveries. If you already participate in the Backpack Program, there is no need to re-apply!)
As the school closure continues, please remember we are here to help! Our goal is to respond to your concerns as quickly as possible using our online Helpdesk Assistance Form. This can be accessed for help with meals, technology, counseling or instruction. We will do our very best to keep you informed as this situation evolves. In the meantime, please check our Facebook Page and District Website frequently for updates.
Stay healthy and strong Panthers,
Brooke and Steve

If you would like to contact her for coaching/support on digital learning please reach out to her at mlovely@phcsd.org or on our school website phcsd.org.
Updated Food Service Plan
Next Meal Delivery Date is Monday, April 27th.
Please watch for the school bus as we can longer backtrack or make additional deliveries if you miss the first run through your neighborhood.
PHCS is now providing foodservice once a week. Each family will receive enough food on Monday to provide breakfast and lunch for children in the household age 18 and under. Remember, students do not need to qualify for a free or reduced-price lunch in order to receive food. Families will need to be signed-up on the foodservice form in order to receive these deliveries. If you have not signed up yet, here is the link:
If you have already been receiving meals there is no need to complete the form again.
PHCS is working hard to provide this service for families in our district while doing all we can to keep our staff safe. You will now find that rather than pre-made sandwiches, the items needed to make sandwiches will be included in the delivery. This new plan reduces the number of staff hours and greatly reduces the handling of food items.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
- How much longer will school be closed? The Department of Education in collaboration with the State Health Department & Governor's Office will make this decision. Currently, the Governor has closed schools until May 15th, 2020. All state exams and Regents testing have been canceled for the 19-20 School Year. We will continue to keep you updated as we learn more!
- How is my child being graded during the school closure? Our first priority is the safety and wellness of our students. To this end, assignment completion allows us to connect with students and that all students are engaged and accounted for. Students we do not hear from or see evidence of engagement in the digital learning environment will be contacted. For further clarification please contact your child's administrator.
- Can my child use a cell phone or other home device to do their Remote Learning? Yes, the device just needs to have internet access, the ability to compose writing assignments (typing or voice recognition) and the ability to access their Google classrooms.
- We are confused about the assignment and/or are having technical issues accessing the lessons/assignments - what do we do? Please email the teacher first and give them some time to respond, then access the PHCS Assistance Helpdesk Form and someone will connect with you as soon as possible. PHCS ASSISTANCE HELPDESK FORM
- Can all children still be signed up for meal delivery service? Yes! Here is the link for the meal sign-up/survey. Please provide all the information requested. Meal Delivery Sign-Up.
