Knightly Update November 7, 2021
ACP High School - Edition Vol 1 Issue 16
To our men and women in uniform, past, present and future, thank you. As U.S. Representative Jeff Miller shared, “the willingness of America's veterans to sacrifice for our country, has earned them our lasting gratitude.” Thank you for your service and for providing the freedoms that we enjoy every day; and thank you to the military families for their support, resilience and sacrifice. Happy Veteran's Day.
We had an exciting week at ACP. Our drama company, KOS, made history in our auditorium with their performance of Peter and the Starcatcher. It was wonderful to see our young thespians on our stage and working hard behind the scenes to entertain the Knight community. Excellent work. If you haven't had an opportunity to see the show, you have more opportunities later this week. I encourage everyone to go and show your support for our students and drama program.
In other amazing news, we have our first individual state champion as ACP High School! Addie Grainger, sophomore, won the AIA State Individual Dive Championship on Friday!! I am so proud of Addie and the hard work and long hours she put forth practicing her dives and preparing for Friday's championship. You can see Addie's championship performance by viewing the video in our Knights in the Spotlight section of this week's update. Congratulations, Addie!!! I am so very happy and excited for you.
Not to be outdone, our school's chess team had an extraordinary showing at the AIA State Chess Tournament finishing in second place and bringing home the State Runner-Up Trophy. Way to go, Knights! In addition the to team finishing in second, freshman Ankit Annasamudram earned a best board medal on the 3rd board. Best board is based on the number of wins at that board. Ankit won all five games! Congratulations to all of the members of ACP Chess (see Knights in the Spotlight). Excellent job!
Several other athletes are competing in competitions this weekend and I will update you as to the outcome of these contests in next week's newsletter. It's been a great week to be a Knight.
Thank you so much for your support of ACP and CUSD with the passage of the override. As a school and district we appreciate your support and trust in our work with your children. We will continue to work diligently to help every child learn and grow. Thank you for supporting your child and all CUSD students.
Please remember that there will be no school on Thursday in honor of the Veteran's Day holiday. Because of the holiday, students will attend block classes on Tuesday & Wednesday and follow a traditional schedule (periods 1-6) on Monday & Friday. In addition, mid-quarter grades will be available for review Friday afternoon via the Infinite Campus Parent Portal. If you have any questions about your child's academic progress, please contact the appropriate instructor or your child's counselor. As always, if you have any questions or concerns, please contact me. Have a very nice week.
Rob Bickes
Principal

Please Make a Tax Credit Donation
If you are able to make your tax contributions early in the year, your donation would be greatly appreciated and give us a jump start on some of our essential extracurricular activities. We have set a goal to collect approximately $50.00 per family for a total of $57,500.00 and hope that you will be willing to help us meet our goal. Thank you for supporting your child and our school!
Tax Credit Basics…
A tax credit donation is a full refund, not a deduction. Contributions eligible for a tax credit are donated directly to schools, not to the state or school district. To participate or learn more, follow the link listed below to donate online or you can complete the enclosed form and submit your contribution at your convenience.
http://www.cusd80.com/taxcredit
Arizona Law ARS 43-1089.01 enables taxpayers a tax credit contribution of up to $400.00 per year if filing status is “Married, filing Joint Return;” $200.00 per calendar year if filing status is “Single of Head of Household;” and $200 per calendar year if filing status is “Married filing separate returns.” These contributions fund extracurricular activities in public schools and greatly impact our school community and our students.
