CCA District-Wide News & Updates

RETURN TO LEARN UPDATE: February 15th - NEW Learning Model Changes Begin

February 15th marks the first day CCA will offer 100% onsite learning for all schools to meet the state requirements for a parent instructional choice. Our elementary schools and middle school were already operating at 100% onsite learning and now the high school is too. As before, all schools still have the 100% virtual option as well.

What does this mean for your child(ren)?

  • High School students will start the learning model they committed to and parents should have received an email confirming their learning choice.
  • Elementary and Middle School students will only switch if they requested a change to their learning model by speaking with their building office.

Health and Safety Protocols

Governor Reynolds recently changed the state proclamation by lifting the statewide mask mandate, however CCA will continue to require face-coverings at all times in our buildings and during school events/activities. This aligns with guidance from Johnson County Public Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Maintaining these protocols is important to the safety and well being of our students, staff, and families. CCA will also continue to follow the same 14 day quarantine plan in place.

Please continue to conduct daily health screenings with your children and keep them home if they are sick. Illness Protocols and Practices.

Meal Account Balances

During this past year, we turned off the Low Balance Notifications on meal accounts. We just turned them back on this week. Any balances/charges are most likely from prior to March of 2020 and had been forgotten about. The balances do not go away and have remained the same status since the time the meal charges were incurred.

If you need assistance logging into your account or would like to set up payment arrangements, please contact the Admin Office at 319-828-4510.

Meals are Free, Why Are There Current Charges on my Account?

If your child brings a meal from home and purchases a milk at school, the milk is $.35. The milk is only free with when included with the school meal. Ala Carte items are still charged and deducted from balances on your student's accounts and a student must have money in their account in order to pay for the ala carte purchase.

You can also email if you have any questions.

Delays and Cancellations Due to Weather

Living in Iowa has its challenges in the winter and sometimes it may be necessary to delay or cancel school in order to ensure the safety of our students. The district always strives to make decisions affecting the school schedule as soon as possible. We know our decision to close schools in poor weather has a big effect on families. We also believe students benefit both academically and socially by being in school. We try to balance many factors when it comes to decisions regarding school closings.
