Hello and Happy September!
We are now well into our school year and, although we are still filled with many uncertainties as we move forward, we are working together to provide a stable environment for your children in a world filled with many moving parts. Please know that our focus is on providing your children with an education that helps guide them to develop their potential while facilitating a safe environment physically, emotionally, and socially for them to grow. Keeping expectations high is important for challenging students to learn but continuing to foster their curiosity and discovery is at the core of how they will develop skills for lifelong learning. Here is an important tweet shared by Challenge Success. I find that it is important for us to remember that grades are not the central factor of learning. Grades are only one piece of the entire process and not the most important in actuality. The importance lies in the environment we create for students to grow and explore in their own time. As the adults our job, whether parents or teachers, is to promote curiosity, innovation, and discovery. Have a fabulous week.
Yours in education,
Dr. Daniels

TEACH DIFFERENT
Parents,
We’ve recently reviewed a 3-Step conversation method created by a company called Teach Different.
For those of you who are looking for a way to have better conversations with your child, please watch this short video - https://youtu.be/Ade1_aG7hDI -- and reply back to me with a "Yes" if you would like the school to provide it as a resource.
Thanks!
VOLUNTEERS:
While the district is not encouraging volunteers for indoor activities parents are welcome to volunteer to help with campus monitoring during lunch and/or throughout the day on campus. Are you interested? You will need to go through the district to meet the requirements of a CAT 2 Volunteer but we would welcome your help. Please contact the office if you are interested. Thank you!
i-Ready Testing
i-Ready Testing will take place on the FMS campus next week (Tuesday 9/14-Wednesday 9/15). Please do your best to have your child at school on time that day as the assessment will take place in advisory class that morning. This is an important assessment for teachers to assess where your child’s strengths and weaknesses are in both Math and Reading.
Question: Are gators allowed?
Yes, as long as they are two-ply and fit appropriately around the nose and chin areas. They must be tightfitting to be effective. Please make sure they are two-ply in nature. Your help with this is much appreciated.
IT’S TIME FOR OUR STUDENT BODY OFFICER ELECTIONS. THE STUDENTS WILL BE VOTING LATER THIS WEEK ON THIS SCHOOL YEAR’S REPRESENTATIVES. GOOD LUCK TO ALL THE CANDIDATES!
PREPARE FOR THE FMS CLUB RUSH: FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 17TH DURING LUNCH!
The club tables will be set up during the lunch time for students to get information and sign up for clubs that may be of interest to them.

Early Dismissal & Late Arrival
Early Dismissal
- Please send in a note with your student explaining the reason for dismissal and what time you will be picking him/her up. When the student arrives to school, have them come to front office with note to collect the pass.
- Your Student will then be given a yellow slip/pass to leave class at that specific time, which the staff at FMS is familiar with.
- You will then meet your student in the front office.
Late Arrival
All students should come through the front office to collect a pass to go to class. If it's an excused absence, please include a note from the parent or a doctor's note. You do not need to accompany your student into the front office as long as he/she has a note.
Thank you for accommodating this request. We have these procedures to ensure the safety of your children at school.
