Greetings from the Principal
Dear Riverview families,
As the end of first quarter nears, please take time to celebrate your child's progress thus far, and capitalize on his/her desire to improve and be successful. As a parent, you can help support student learning through a daily routine time set aside for your children to have a quiet place to work independently, and then reviewing student work upon completion.
During the time that that you review your child's school work in the home setting, you may want to consider incorporating questions that help your child develop critical thinking skills, as well as high standards for their own work.
- How do you know your answer is correct?
- How did you figure that problem out?
- Why do you think that? Explain your thinking.
- How is this similar to what you did in class?
- What part is hard for you? How could we make that part easier?
Celebrate your child's progress even when it seems small! Talk openly about what you see as your child's strengths as well as challenges. Share with your child what you believe to be your own learning profile, and discuss how you work on improving your own skills. It is important to recognize that improvement and skill-building takes time and is more likely to happen when a student feels supported by school and home.
Make it a Royal week!

Staff Spotlight....Kiley Tenbrink
My name is Kiley Tenbrink and I am one of the English Language Learner specialists here at Riverview! This is my second year in the building and my fourth year teaching. I started teaching in the Turner School district, where I taught 3rd grade then 5th grade.
I graduated from Kansas State University (Go Cats!) and I am currently going to Baker University to get my Master's Degree in School Leadership. I met my husband our first semester of college and we have been together ever since! We have been married for two years and we have two lovable dogs, Bernie and Reggie. We are extremely excited to announce that we are expecting our first baby in early April!
In my free time I love to look at all things baby related or take a nap with my pups! I also enjoy volleyball and coach a 5th grade girls volleyball team. I truly love being a part of the Riverview staff and working with so many amazing children!
