7/22/2019 - BOWMAN WELCOMES 6TH GRADERS
Good afternoon!
We are so excited to welcome our incoming 6th graders and their families to the Bowman Raider Family! I’ve realized that our incoming 6th grade families are not receiving the Bowman eNews so I wanted to take a moment to get you up to speed on what our schedule will look like between now and August 12th, the first day of school.
Typically, 6th graders first opportunity to experience the middle school setting is during Schedule Pick-Up where they receive a copy of their schedule and get to walk around the school to locate their classes and begin to feel comfortable in a new space. This year, PISD’s Schedule Pick-Up is Thursday, July 31st. Currently, Bowman is being renovated and the building will not be ready in time for Schedule Pick-Up. I’m in communication with our construction team and we are trying to determine if we can delay Schedule Pick-Up until our building is ready. We will communicate our plan early next week so families have time to plan accordingly. Regardless of what we decide, parents can access student schedules online via Parent Portal on July 31st (provided all registration and immunization information have been turned in). I’ve also included a copy of the 6th grade bell schedule below for your reference.
In addition, we will be holding a 6th Grade Parent Night within the first few weeks of school and will send that date out once we have it confirmed. During 6th Grade Parent Night, our teachers will talk about their class, grading policies, and contact information and parents have the opportunity to ask questions.
We certainly apologize for the inconvenience that the renovation is causing, I really wish that our building was ready to welcome you and your students on July 31st, however that is just not the case. We will do our best to openly communicate as we navigate the construction process. Most importantly, we are excited to welcome your child and show off the nice, clean, and modern school that they will be attending for the next 3 years! I know that the 5th to 6th grade transition can seem intimidating but please know that our administrative team, counseling team, and 6th grade teachers will do everything we can to get to know your child and make them feel safe and comfortable at Bowman Middle School.
Thank you and welcome to Bowman!

___________________________________________________________________________________________
¡Buenas tardes!
Gracias y bienvenido a Bowman!
