Take Home Math Centers

Over the last month I have developed a series of math materials designed specifically for students to use at home. Each math packet is designed with a specific concept or skill. The packet includes a Parent Tips sheet, Task Cards, Student Recording Sheet, and Answer Key. At this point I have created 6 different concept/skills and have put together two sets for each. Here is a list of the concepts/skills:

  • Rounding Numbers to the Nearest 10 or 100
  • Rounding in Word Problems
  • Subtraction with Regrouping
  • Multi-step Word Problems Using the Four Operations
  • Algebra for the Third Grader (solving for the unknown)
  • Patterns Rule (Completing an increasing or decreasing pattern; in and out boxes)

If you would like your child to bring home one of these packets, please send me a note or e-mail and I will place it in his/her folder.

I am also working on a few video tutorials, which should be ready within the next week or two. They will focus on perimeter and geometry.

Thank you for taking the time to help your child be successful. It truly takes a partnership between school and home to make a difference.

Writing Focus: Persuasive Writing- Opinion

During the last few weeks we have been working on opinion writing. I've created a graphic organizer to help students organize ideas. Rainy weekends seem to be the norm lately, so why not take some time to practice writing an opinion-based writing sample. Attached below are two files that will help your child get started. Any student that completes this assignment by January 29 will receive a homework pass!
