Three Thank Yous
Thank you to Ms. Duncan and Officer Banker for facilitating the Pizza with Police event on Tuesday! Our students were relaxed and comfortable with law enforcement from both Concord Police Department and the Cabarrus County Sheriff's Department. Both the Chief of Police and Sheriff Brad Riley were also in attendance. Wow! Thank you to our Amy Preston and our Student Expo Committee for an AMAZING student expo this year! It was definitely our biggest crowd yet, and students were so proud to show off their learning, which is what it's all about! Thank you to our PTSO for assistance with BOTH of these events in ordering and picking up food as well as serving it!
Please take time to nominate a colleague!!!

IB Tidbit of the Week as we prepare for our VISIT!
Are you familiar with the IB policies for the school? These were written by a team of our teachers at the end of last school year to be applied this year. There are four of them that cover Academic Honesty, Language, Special Education, and Assessment. Please take a moment to peruse them and how they affect you. https://www.cabarrus.k12.nc.us/Page/57576

School Safety Reminders
Please consistently talk with our students about the fact that open doors to the outside should NEVER occur. Also, please ensure your classroom doors are always locked. Only good can come from consistently talking to our students about the importance of ALL of our safety drills and what they need to do to protect themselves.

EVAAS Roster Verification - a heads up for April
PowerSchool serves as the authoritative source for student and teacher data used by EVAAS. To guarantee a smooth roster verification process for teachers and principals administering state assessments, all teacher and student information must be updated in PowerSchool before February 24, 2018. EVAAS will pull data on February 25, 2018, to build rosters.Important: After roster verification ends, EVAAS uses the data in the submitted rosters to calculate teachers' value-added measures. In addition, state legislation increasingly relies on growth data for making policy decisions that have an impact on schools and teachers. Therefore, it is critical that the data in the rosters is accurate and that teachers personally approve their rosters instead of letting them auto-submit. As those non-rookies are aware, this is a simple process in which we verify the students we teach and to what percentage they have been present in our classes. We will talk through all of this when the time comes, but we just want to be transparent with this process as we receive information.
IMPORTANT DATE CHANGE - please mark your calendars appropriately
